I was in a local Home Bargains shop yesterday and there were FOUR isles of Christmas decorations :nonofinger: For goodness sake what's wrong with people, it's mid August !
I won't be going to H B again for a while, I don't wan the 21st century version of Christmas rammed down my throat in August thank you. I know people 'have to' prepare for it but 'jingleaires' (as my Grampa called them) are not needed in August.

It allows you to get Christmas out of the way at the end of September and then you can hibernate through Halloween and November 5th and emerge well rested in the New Year.

It's bad enough Christmas takes up December, without it spilling over through the entire autumn season as well. :th scifD36:

Can't believe I've never heard of Home Bargains shop. Honest! Had to look it up. Probably the same in all these types of shop.

Today is a day off. But yesterday I finally received my photo driving licence. I have always had a paper one, but having no photo ID is becoming a problem. From maybe early next year anyone having any dealings with Companies House will have to identify themselves . According to draft rules there will be 3 channels to do this, but all require some form of photo ID. Had to pay £20 to change it, but the DVLA haven't banked my cheque yet.

Also I finally changed our Octopus tariff to a 12m fixed deal. The rates offered were a good deal less than next quarters cap and according to Cornwall Insight prices will go up again in January.

Hubby had a good day too. He has 3 inkjet printers and he swapped the printhead over from the one that an electrical storm destroyed 17 years ago and put it into one of the other two that seemed blocked and now we have a fully functioning printer.

Last night we tried out a new curry house and tonight it's fish and chips - you can't beat our local chippy at Walmley. Fresh fish from the Birmingham fish markets. Cost £20 for 2 of us these days.

Bottled 14 bottles of elderflower wine. Tastes great. Not sure whether we will get any berries this year as the pigeons love them too much.

@Hanglow, as a keen visitor of standing stones I was curious as to where your profile picture was from.

Today we went to see a fabulous art gallery from a great friend and ex colleague. Magnificent. Then went onto a local exhibits of art. Totally amazing. These artists produced some paintings that were 3D when you looked at them. Such talent.

Forgot all about it but something went "click". National Heritage days this week. You can look at your own county and decide if there is something that takes your interest and it is FREE. We have over the years been to many places and been amazed at what has been on offer. The last 2 years we haven't for family reasons but we are going to give it a go again. Looking forward to the visits and hope the weather is kinder this week.

                              Apologies for the late reply

It's from Callanish on the isle of Lewis

I am fond of a good standing stone too, I assume from loving asterix and obelix as a kid.

This weekend went for cycle round the wind farm and a foray up by loch Lomond. Finally got some good blackberrries 1000005828.jpg 1000005808.jpg IMG_20240906_120403.jpg
