Hanging baskets are doing well, they take a long time to get going.

 

Preston Guild is said to be hardy @ViewAhead but I actually think it's just borderline. I've lost it every time I've planted it in the ground but if you live in a mild area or plant it somewhere very sheltered and well drained it might survive outside.

A random seedling from last year's Lauren's Grape poppies appeared in the pot with the Ipomoeas,as I'd used soil/compost from last year. Hopefully I'll get some seed collected.
The flowers only live for a day, but I love the colour, and there's plenty of buds on each stem, so you get a nice show.

 

If you want a hardy blue Fuchsia @ViewAhead you could try Delta's Sarah, it is hardy here and grows into quite a nice bush every year, so it would probably do well with you, It's a nice blue ... here's a photo of it which I also showed in August :-

 

I bought a Delta's Sarah this summer, @Michael Hewett, and it is doing well. Foolishly, I got it from Homebase and it seemed a bit wobbly. I tipped it out and found it had been dumped in a pot much bigger than its needs (no doubt to inflate the price ). The tea-bagging meant the roots were tiny and struggling. I deconstructed the whole thing, getting the tea-bag off. It looked very poorly for about a week and I was just considering cutting back the top growth to help it along when suddenly it perked up and has not looked back since. It has a particularly pretty leaf colour, with the fresh ones a lovely light green.

 

Delta's Sarah also takes easily from cuttings. I bought one online a few years ago and it arrived with a bit broken off. I stuck that in a pot and soon had two plants. I have now got rid of both though; it somehow always looked untidy and I wanted the space for something else.

 

Here's mine. It is in almost complete shade, but still in a pot so I can move it somewhere a little sunnier next yr if need be. It does seem to have quite a lax habit at the edges, but fuchsias are very tolerant of pruning, so I don't think that will be a problem. So far, no probs with the dreaded gall mite!
