The last time i went to the Doc's was to get a medecial for HGV, doc filled out form wrong and i didn't get my liecene because of my heart, but after some looking in to the doc was looking at someone else's notes not mine i redone the form and then got my lience back but it was a long time faffing about and no sorry for the problem

 

With our surgery, not the same as my sister-in-law, once you can get through the wait for a face-to-face appointment isn't too bad but they often try to say they'll do a telephone appointment! Then they will only give you a date with no time, not even AM or PM. When I said they don't expect patients to sit all day when they visit the surgery I was told 'That's just the way it is'. My wife actually sat in all day waiting for a call back which never came. Just before 5pm she received a text saying they hadn't been able to get hold of her. Neither her mobile phone nor the land line had rung all day.

 

For yrs now, the NHS has regarded patients' time as of no consequence, IMV. All part of the embedded "you should be grateful for this "free" service" attitude.

 

I think all the pensioners who voted Labour are all feeling rather stupid now. They have already said no Winter Fuel Allowance for most, next it will be the rail cards then our bus passes. Yet strangely they can find billions in Aid to other countries and don't get me started on all the young male immigrants

 

But it ain't free. 'Free at the point of use' but costs the taxpayer billions each years. A few more billions now with the Government capitulation.

Re the WFP, was just listening to PMQs. Good way to raise my blood pressure without the bother of exercise. Anyway, Starmer seems to be unwilling to acknowledge that a pensioner on £13,000 needs the help. The argument that the state pension may rise £1,000 over the next 5 yrs implies "so that's alright then", but (a) £1,000 is not 5 x £300, and (b) what about inflation, which is what the £1,000 is designed to cover?

I accept "We need to make tough decisions". I do not accept £13 k should be the cut-off point.

 

As usual they set the bar very low for gaining pension credit.

I'm still confused why this was raised as a way of filling the 22 billion black hole they seem to have manufactured, they are talking about it raising 1.3 billion at the very most.

I'm guessing where the other 20.7 billion is going to come from is a secret.

 

The reality is that the pension doesn't actually rise, it only keeps up with inflation - if you are very lucky. Using the Governments own argument, they are actually reducing pension income by around £1000 over the next 5 years.

 

I noticed yesterday that a bunch of illegals that were put up at Manston a while ago are now suing the government for not giving them adequate accommodation.

I can only assume they will be suing the French government also, regarding the beach they camped on before they got picked up and brought here.

 

There's nothing wrong with French beaches! Hundreds of thousands of holiday-makers pay good money every year to squat them

In the 70s one of my chemistry teachers recounted how his first house was near a tight bend on a busy road and said that the emergency services recognised his voice when he rang 999 late at night about another vehicle in his garden. He and his wife moved when they were awoken by a louder than usual noise and there was a petrol tanker in the garden.

 

Perhaps it's time for the new govt. to try being completely honest ( I know - that's an amaaaazing concept in politics ).
Pensioners are now considered a Nuisance when all is said and done. They want to live, eat and be reasonably warm as well as pestering the NHS. If they have managed to save for their old age, their savings tend to lesssen as the Council Tax and Utility bills rise year on year.
As for the £20 odd billion Black Hole which this govt professed to have no idea existed, they obviously didn't do much investigating/querying the finances when in opposition. Who, in reality, can actually confirm this amount given the billions which go astray every year no matter who is in charge ?
A date has already been set for nett zero carbon emissions ( doubtful ), a Smoke Free Britain is on the cards ( even more doubtful ) so why not a Pensioner Free Britain to top things off ? Easy enough to do I'd think - no assistance in any form whatsoever - mass graves under all the new housing projects or , even better, those with grey/white hair can go in the proposed Grey Belt areas - dead or alive.
We would of course still be left with rich old people so that's a bit of a problem for a socialist ( ??) govt. but I'm sure they will manage to live with that.
