    I actually like the scent from Cordyline australis flowers, but I've heard other people say they don't like it, bees definitely like it and starlings love the berries when ripe.

    My father set fire to a friends pampas grass in the 70's. Unfortunately he completely forgot about the petrol station across the road; he spent the rest of the day damping it down with a hosepipe.
    Apparently I was the only one who thought it funny.

      I remember the 1970s "swingers" myth if you had a pampas in your front garden. We moved ours to the back garden.

      Ours is just starting to flower and if it is a calm winter, will look quite good for some months. The squirrels love to break the tops off and carry them off.

      Not easy to trim and setting fire would be easier, but our fence and neighbours hedge and beyond could go up too.
