    Hello all.

@Tui34, my OH found sleeping on his back difficult too after his hip replacement. We propped his leg up a bit with pillows as @Obelix-Vendée said and it helped.

I must finish the ironing and get on with the packing.

Thank you @Obelix-Vendée @Busy-Lizzie and @AuntyRach for instructions. I have to sleep with a pillow between my legs so I shall definitely put another one into the bed to rest my knee on. Good idea. Not so hot at night now - the temperature is dipping which is unusual for September but good for me!

I had a walk this morning and was even able to hold one crutch (the op side) away and walk with one crutch. The joy of painkillers!!

I hope you have a good trip back to Blighty @Busy-Lizzie looks like you will be there for a couple of months - then back for the winter. I wonder what it will be like as the Southern Hemisphere had a particularly cold one this year and the north often follows suit.

Ho hum. I think I will read for a bit!

        Good afternoon, everyone.

Had an unscheduled walk home from church this morning, as my usual "lift lady" had a family crisis and needed to stay at home. Best part of 5 miles, which has no doubt done me good... though there were far too many cars to dodge en route, and an annoying amount of drizzle.

How useful that some on this thread have experience of hip replacement, @Tui34 . Hope their recommendations make your recovery more comfortable.

I've done a factory reset on the trail camera. It's still not recording at night, which is frustrating. If it needs attention, I'm not sure what to do, since it was made in the US - though perhaps there's an Irish representative...

Our Irish-based daughter and family are on their way to our Scottish cottage for a holiday. The girls (both on the autistic spectrum) are very excited! It's a safe environment for them to go out on their own, if they want to, and Wednesday is our son-in-law's and his older daughter's birthday. It's a lovely place for them to celebrate it.

We are back home after an exceptionally wet day in the hills. Dogs didn't care though!!
A cold week is forecast here in North Wales and my thoughts are turning to slow cooker casserole favourites, with plenty of veg as I am still on this pesky fast diet! (it is working though)
I have realised what a parlous state many herbs are in, so this week will be herb sowing week; basils, parsleys, fenugreek, coriander etc.

Evening all, we actually saw some sunshine today, just a bit around lunchtime. By the time I got organised to get outside it had disappeared and now it's raining again.
Feel much better today thank goodness.

@Tui34, hope you have a better day today and sleep better tonight. OH also put a pillow under his knees which helped after his hip op.

            Have a good journey @Busy-Lizzie.

Good evening all. Well it has done nothing but pour down with rain all day today. Bulb planting has once more gone on hold. After the coffee morning at Church I just headed for home. The leaves are falling in their hundreds all round me and if it hadn't been so wet I would have loved scuffing through them. The paper bins in my Lane, which were supposed to have been emptied last Thursday, are still full and forming a blue guard of honour outside all of our houses. My neighbour told me that the refuse collectors are coming tomorrow apparently, to empty them. Seeing is believing.
@Tui34, sorry to hear about the pain and discomfort but well done you for all the walking you have been doing. Baby steps!
@Obelix-Vendée, I too managed to succesfully trap and release back into the wild two mice last week - pressies from Cricket.
@Busy-Lizzie, I'm not sure what time you are setting off tomorrow but I hope that you have a safe journey.
I am signing out for this evening so I'll wish you all pleasant evenings - and a more comfortable one for you, @Tui34.
By the way, I am another one who had a rubbish night last night so I think I'll retire early and read my book.

Still raining here. It cleared enough to drop daughter at the station, on her way home from her week here. It’s not pelting down again. Car to the garage in the morning, but otherwise I have a load of laundry to deal with. Will seem a bit quiet, just me and OH again, but I’m sure we will get back to our normal routine. I’ll have an early night, after sitting up past my usual bedtime, chatting to daughter, and working our way through all the recordings of University Challenge!
Hope everyone gets a decent nights sleep, especially those post op.

Awake early in the morning. Something banging in the wind is causing a disturbance every few seconds. I know what it is, but I'm not going to sort it right now.

Good morning @RowlandsCastle and everyone calling by later. I do not blame you one bit for not leaving your warm house to go and sort out the 'disturbance'. It can be sorted later. Its wet and windy here again today and my Quiz League starts again tonight.

Good morning all, just popping in to say thank you for the informative "day" posts @Ladybird4 .
I was just wondering if there was a day in the year that wasn't a "Day" (if you see what I mean ).

                      Have a good day everyone.

                        Good morning all!!

I took a large cushion to bed with me last night, and spent the night fighting it!! It was too large and too en cumbersome. I did get some sleep though with some weird dreams. A smaller cushion tonight!! The pain is like someone digging into my groin with a teaspoon! A couple of painkillers, a good wash (no shower yet) and get dressed to feel alive. Physio is coming at 9.15am. this morning.

As a follow up, I was wrong about the cause, so it's just as well that I didn't go dashing out with a roll of black tape, and repair the broken hinge on the wheelie bin I put out yesterday evening.
The banging was a rose bud knocking on the bedroom window - probably wanted to be indoors, out of the unpleasant weather!!
I've now threaded the branch through the metal frame on the wall.

A photo of the offending bush, earlier in the year.

Good morning all. That is indeed a beautiful rose, @RowlandsCastle - pity it woke you up, though!

The hedgehog is definitely still around, digging holes in the woodchip path and leaving its poo behind. And either it or the rat is still eating the food. No photos though. Factory reset didn't improve things so I'll have to see if the camera can be repaired.

We have sun this morning. Not sure it's going to stay... better get the shopping done while the going is good.

Is it today @Busy-Lizzie travels to the UK? Safe journey!
