Hello I recently had my derelict gravelled garden turfed and don't really have the first clue about gardening - plus I've not been on a message board or any social media for many years, so this is all a bit daunting! None the less I'm looking forward to learning from you all and hopefully sharing my successes (if I actually have any!) Cheers, Nattie
Hello Nattie, Welcome to the forum. Don’t worry about lack of skills in gardening or foruming. We are all in the same boat at some time or another.
Welcome, @Nattie. I am located way down south too, though you might be even nearer the equator than me. Must say I like a gravel garden and find turf a bit of a faff to look after, but I'm sure yours looks bowling-green lovely.
Thanks all @ViewAhead it's not quite Columbia, but about as close you can get without setting foot in the Atlantic. To call what I had before 'gravel' was probably a bit misleading...it was more like weeds, loose soil, broken slates, rusty nails & bits of old wood, interspersed with a bit of very ancient gravel! I'm learning the hard way what a faff grass can be, but still grateful for it every time I step out the door or look out the window - just praying it survives the winter as gets a bit boggy around here!
Welcome to Gardeners Corner @Nattie I live way down south too but it's the south of Wales, so south of where do you live ? From an above comment it sounds like south of USA and if you want help with your garden it would be useful to know your approximate location, because different plants have different requirements.
Hello Nattie and welcome. I live in SW France but my partner lives in Norfolk, England so I have 2 gardens with different soil and conditions. I think most people here are from the UK but there are people from a lot of different countries too, including the USA. If you feel like a chat instead of gardening there is the Wakey Wakey thread on something called The Muppet Show.
Welcome to GC Nattie. If you could put your area in your avatar box please, it would help when discussing your garden needs, regarding climate etc.
[ Thank you - I hadn't realised there were members from outside the UK. How lovely to have a garden either side of the channel I've updated my profile to say 'Cornwall' now for the avoidance of confusion. I just checked out the Wakey Wakey thread & I must say it's nice to see how friendly everyone is!
