      More lawyer jokes!

Did you know that there are so many lawyers in the UK that if you arranged them all in a line on the equator, holding hands,

that would be a very good thing

I've just sent off an email to a company that I bought something from whilst in the Lake District, just got home, and I see on the receipt (not the credit card receipt) that they have put my full credit card number. I await a response to my complaint. :heehee:

I have a moan about not being able to call the petrol fairy when I need her - but she was kind to me on the drive back from the Lakes.

The car told me, when I was leaving, that I had enough petrol for 250 miles for my journey of almost 300 miles. By the time I had driven 100 miles she had topped up my tank to a capacity of 350 miles. Now I'm home I have 170 miles left in the tank.

I want to know how to call her when I need petrol as it would save me quite a bit of money.

Although I'm very thankful for her help today :love30:

It's always a bit of light entertainment on a long journey to see the petrol fairy at work. The only problem is, she doesn't seem to like short trips and takes the extra away, along with a bit more, which I think is just plain spiteful.

Shhh! You don't really want to say things like that in case she looks in and takes away the long trip bonus. :th scifD36:

As often as you say they were wrong, your Canadian forecast is eventually not up to the job, and you should consider a better forecast from abroad that fits your expectations. :)

So, your journey was only 280 miles long rather than close to 300 miles.

Was supposed to be 283 miles but road closures made it 292 miles . Although they had closed a road two villages away from us they weren't working on it on a Sunday. I heard yesterday that the locals just drove round the barriers as there was plenty of room because the heavy machinery was taken away for Sundays - or someone had stolen it. I couldn't see round the bend so didn't know :dunno:

The other week we had 'road closed' signs at either end of our road, which is nearly two miles long, for four days but nobody could work out why. The Parish Council couldn't find out why either. By day four the signs had been thrown in the ditch :rolleyespink:. Similar things have happened in the last few years. The water leak in the far end of the road hasn't been fixed in over forty years so it's likely the water authority has scheduled it in each time but never got around to it.

Problem with roadworks is its often a different company that puts out traffic lights and signage.
So they put the stuff out and then the contractor doesn't show up,something more important elsewhere so the lights and signs are left there for no reason.

They often take a few days to remove them when the job is done.

It's the difference in speed for short journeys and the 'stop/start' nature that uses more fuel @simone_in_wiltshire, or driving solely on a motorway, as opposed to being able to drive on a road where you can be at the more efficient speeds. For example, mine changes when I go up the west side to walk, because I have to drive through more congested areas, from leaving home, then through Paisley, which is always very stop/start, before I get to the A82 and up beside Loch Lomond, where the road is better, unless it's at 'tourist time'. Once you're at a speed that's the most economical for your car, it changes the the amount of miles you'll get based on that. It always makes me smile when I see the differences.

We've had constant roadworks of different kinds around here for over a year. It's very frustrating when they don't clear the stuff away @pete , but I gained something from it a while ago when they left a bag of cement and I went along and snaffled it. That saved me buying one for my various concreting jobs
