@Hanglow, I just looked it up, it looks very magical, thank you for sharing that and your photos. Enjoy your blackberries!

Is that the windfarm near me @Hanglow - at Eaglesham?

I can see it from the house - although not yesterday! A nice easy walk.
The brambles have been ripening a good bit recently, and I keep picking a few when I'm out my daily walk. The ones I pass most are beside the road, in the field margins round the corner from me, aren't so good, but they get next to no sun, whereas the ones further down near one of the small playparks are in better sites, and are looking pretty good. I should take a little bag with me and go that way today.

Yes Whitelee windfarm. It’s the biggest on shore windfarm in the uk iirc. There's a decent viewpoint that's a short walk from the visitor centre there, on a clear day you can see pretty far all around

I've had a bit of good news today - my car insurance renewal came in for the Volvo and it was roughly £40 less than last year's price (and I drove them down £100 from their initial quote last year); I went on to do the obligatory search and have managed to save a further £180. Back in the four-hundreds for car insurance, so I am a happy man.

Yes - I've walked up to it a few times @Hanglow, but it's not like a proper hillwalk - just a slightly longer one than my usual daily walk. I go up the most easterly side to reach the trig/summit of Corse Hill, which isn't at the visitor centre side. They say it's the biggest windfarm in Europe, but I've no idea if that's the case. Clear enough today to see a few of the most northerly windmills.

I did get some brambles yesterday, although from a different site than the one I mentioned. Mixed in with some blueberries, and a splodge or two of Greek yogurt. Lovely.

Sounds really good so I had a look online - unfortunately it’s only in England. Good to share for people to look though as there are lots of places open. Enjoy your visits :)

@Golarne I hadn't noticed it was just England so I did a search and came up with
          Open Doors | Cadw (gov.wales)
Maybe there will be something there for you.
We are hoping to visit an 18 century watermill tomorrow.

1000005884.jpg 1000005888.jpg Found my first giant puffball. Was too soft to pick. Also lots of rain recently by the looks of things, the River Avon almost in spate. Went home and made 4.5kg of jam from various fruits: blaeberries, tayberries, raspberries, mainly black berries, apple and a bit of lemon

Thank you so much, I don’t know why I didn’t think of looking! I’ve spotted a couple of possible visits, depending on weather and availability of OH. Enjoy the watermill

On Tuesday we had 2 electricians working all day at replacing some very old wiring from the cottage to the garage. Brilliant workers.
Today we had a man to replace some blown double glazed windows. They have been insitu for over 20 years so not bad. Thankfully he just finished and packed up when the heavens opened. Another brilliant worker.

I meant to say the other day @Meomye that those standing stones at Callanish are the 'original' ones - not Stonehenge.
This site gives you some info, but I epxect you've already read a fair bit of info
                  Calanais Standing Stones

There are quite a few small sets of standing stones around Scotland. I passed some in the north east one day, coming back from a hillwalk, but I couldn't stop for a pic unfortunately.

Lots of standing stones, cairns and dolmens round here @fairygirl but many more in Brittany. Stonehenge is just a bit bigger and on a better trodden route than the Scottish sites so gets more attention.

Chocolate day today so first job is to make a Mexican beef chilli with a touch of chocolate and then a chocolate cake later. In between, a run to a community charity shop to deposit clothes and stuff, a run to check on a homeless mama cat and her kittens I've started feeding and prepping for patchwork club AGM on Monday. Hope to find an hour to spare for gardening.

@fairygirl, I have been to visit many a cairn and standing stones in Scotland, England and Wales, in fact our holidays are often based around them. Sadly, we haven't got as far as the Outer Hebrides yet!

They're certainly very much a part of our heritage @Meomye - all that Viking ancestry ;)

I've also never been to the Hebrides - much to my shame.

Those standing stones date from about 5000 years ago @fairygirl ! Celts and Picts and the like. Impressive grasp of astronomy.

Vikings are a bit more recent. 795AD.
