I hit none of the same notes as Angel Blue. Probably just as well - my wife's peace lily would have drooped.

Well, my wife is home, and before she stepped inside, there was a sharp intake of breath, followed by mental cogs turning, trying to find something to say!!!
Basically, she says she likes it, just not where it is - or anywhere else in our home!!
      "Maybe the loft!!"

Oh no @RowlandsCastle! That is a real shame. Is she/are you being serious?

That’s a shame @RowlandsCastle, I think the runner looks very cheerful from your picture.

Sadly, she IS being serious. I'm not going to put it in the loft - or garage or shed!! However, I will leave it in situ, and see if it grows on her.
I'll admit that it is a bit of a change from dark brown parquet, but when she feels the warm fluffiness between her toes, instead of cold, hard wood, she may change her mind.
She's the one who tried to encourage me to wear brighter coloured shirts, instead of blue or green or white. Okay, I'm not going to wear the carpet (except "out"), but I'm following her advice to "be bold".

Good morning @Tui34 and all arriving soon. Quite foggy here this morning - the forecast was correct.

                      Good morning everyone.

Thank you @Ladybird. Yes, it is my birthday! How did you know?

OH has booked my favourite restaurant for lunch tomorrow. They are shut today.

Last night my eye hurt and suddenly filled with pus. It's a lot better this morning but my eyelid is swollen. Maybe I got something in it when cutting back in the garden.

How are you feeling this morning @Tui34. Is the leg getting slightly less painful each day? I do hope so. I remember after my cancer op I was itching to get out and driving again but my op wasn't as major as yours. Hoorah for super glue!

Good morning @Busy-Lizzie! Our posts crossed. I tried over the years to note down special events in people's lives but I am always aware I may have got things wrong! Pleased I was right in this case and I wish you all the joys today may bring. A lovely meal to look forward to tomorrow as well. It is so easy to have something get into eyes when gardening. A saline eye bath might help.

Morning all. Happy Birthday Liz. I hope you have a nice day.

Thank you @Ladybird for your kind thoughts - the pain is definitely getting better - but I am so rigid in the mornings that it takes a while for things to move. It's now been 10 days since the op. I have pushed the vacuum cleaner around and brushed Fizz who came in yesterday evening, full of paspalum sticky grass. I had to cut out rather large balls of fur - poor thing.

Done the morning's ablutions, made the bed and done the physio exercises. All this take 5 times longer than usual - but I like things straight. Sitting down now for some time out then I may go for a little walk alone. My friend has popped down to the markets. It's so windy that it doesn't make walking very enjoyable.

I am sorry @RowlandsCastle I laughed like a drain when I read your wife's reaction to the runner. Half expected it. Our minds just don't think alike, do they? She may come round eventually, but I wouldn't have laid it out in front of her. I would have told her before showing her. Anyway, fingers crossed for you. There's always Ebay you know!!

It sounds as though you are doing really well @Tui34. A hip replacement is a big op.

Lovely OH has been to the pharmacy and got me some antibiotic eye ointment.

Happy birthday, @Busy-Lizzie! Have a lovely lunch out tomorrow. Hope your eye settles down quickly.
Oh dear, @RowlandsCastle. I don’t like OH to buy things on his own, as we have such different tastes. However, I have discovered that there is no point trying to compromise, as we end up with something neither of us likes! I put up with a coffee and cream colour scheme for years before OH suddenly announced that he’d never liked it and didn’t know why we’d chosen it! And when I finally fished out a dress that he had dismissed as not very nice, he commented very favourably on it, and wondered why I didn’t wear it more often! So now I dress to please myself, and if we can’t see furnishings that I like, we just have to wait until we do. Luckily, if it’s not related to something he is interested in, like motor racing or electronics, he has a very short attention span.
Go easy now, @Tui34, don’t want to get blown over.

Slept well last night, despite the bad cold. I’m blaming the fancy cold relief capsules I was taking. The 3 daytime capsules contain caffeine, so I skipped the late afternoon dose yesterday, and just had plain paracetamol. I think that did the trick.
More gardening planned today. The green bins are sitting empty with collection due on Wednesday morning. I cleared a big patch of brambles yesterday, and trimmed the shoots off a clump of three silver birches, lovely to be able to see the white bark, and the plants behind them should get a lot more light. Still haven’t planted the daffodil bulbs, but I have put the bag in a prominent place on the kitchen worktop. There is still a danger that if they are there for more than a couple of days, I will no longer ‘see’ them, but at least there is an initial chance I won’t ignore them for too long.
