    Moan, moan here too.

The Amazon warehouse built on prime farmland and green belt about 2 miles from here is now fully operational. At least we will get prompt deliveries. Next stage is 6,000 homes almost next door to this, again on green belt. This is before Labour starts.

They just say it will bring prosperity to the area, that's what the councils around here say, we need the jobs, then import thousands of people who want houses.
Its a vicious circle in the never ending search for GROWTH that will never happen, and even if it does the ordinary person wont benefit.

Why do we want growth and what does it mean?

That's a lot of space given over to staff parking. Could they not have put it under the building? And jobs in an Amazon warehouse are hardly likely to boost the economy much. Most are low paid, irregular hrs contracts with no job security.

I think it's all robotic inside. Not sure what they need people for then. Oiling the robots.

Well, then they really don't need all that parking. ;)

They need the parking for vans with which to deliver the items.

6000 new homes is horrendous, especially on prime farmland.
We have a similar problem here. The current plan for the immediate fields, including the one I took pictures of, is for 1600 homes, and various road links - both of which are unnecessary.
I got involved in the latest local protest, outside and inside the council offices.

"PRIME" farmland, very fitting for Amazon.

They have done the same here at an M20 junction, the last one that had been untouched, now masses of units big access roads.
Loads of houses in a village just down the road.

If you say anything you are standing in the way of progress.

Instead of all this monotonous rubbish about climate change, of which the UK can do absolutely nothing, I much prefer a bit more action on habitat loss, and loss of farmland.

We have thousands of new homes here. I was puzzled by the decision for the South Downs National Park boundary to skirt round us. Now I realise it was because being inside would have made this mass building programme trickier.

                          Unbelievable
My 82 year old neighbour took his little yorkie out for its teatime walk
They got twenty yards to the front of my drive, when they were set upon by three American XL Bully's
They almost shreded the wee yorkie, then pulled my neigbour down and set on him
blood everywhere both he and his dog
Phoned 999 for police and ambulance, took the police twenty minutes to arrive, They could not attend as the dogs were not muzzled or on a lead (Health and Safety) no dog wardens available
Next the owners daughters of the XLs arrived with one lead and one muzzle, which they fitted to the biggest bully (fortunately it took place infront of a ring door bell so proof the dogs were not muzzled)
The owners had a great struggle to restrain their dogs
Now the police arrived, and let the dogs owners place the biggest bully in the police van prison cage
Next my neighbour was still down and bleeding but the paramedics did not arrive for forty minutes
The police then let the dogs go with their owners
The paramedics ambulance have taken my neighbour to the local hospital seven miles away
his wife distraught with help from neighbours have taken the wee Yorkie to the vets where it is in a very bad way, and to be kept in at least overnight but not looking good
The big bully was now looking at me, but now it had a muzzle on and I was at my door
All I managed to do was provide a hot cup of tea to my neighbours whilst all the statements and door bell video was collected

I do not see why the family were allowed to take these dogs home Saying they were really good friendly dogs and registered

The screams and sounds will never leave me, I was terrified that it might have been my grandkids visiting

That's terrible, @Jack McHammocklashing. :hate-shocked: Surely several offences have been committed? Dogs not under control, dangerous breed out in public unmuzzled, etc? The laws around dog ownership have not kept pace with the sheer numbers now kept as pets. Personally, I would like to see compulsory licensing and training courses (for both owners and dogs), plus a limit on how many can be kept together in one household and within a given space.

The DWP is going to send out 12.7 million letters to pensioners telling them about the winter fuel payment. And that will cost what? Completely ridiculous waste of tax-payers' money! :nonofinger:
