@BB3 As long it's not inside, leave it where it is. If it's on a pavement, maybe a bucket water helps.
If it's in the garden, it will be gone in days.
As Monty said once, also cat poo is fertiliser and the flies also like it.
It can happen that cats have diarrhoea. It's mostly caused by age and resulting illness.

Utterly disagree. I have an open plan front garden with a lawn; for all the years I've lived here it's been the favourite crapping place of all the neighbourhood cats - especially as more and more of my neighbours pave theirs over.

One time I had just finished picking up a load, and went inside to put my coat on to go out. As I came through the front door again there was my next door neighbour's cat in the middle of the grass curling out a fresh new one.

In recent years the number of cats in the street has declined, and that's the only thing that's improved matters. Next door neighbour used to have at least 3 but seems like she's not replacing them as they pop off.

My council says only animal waste from vegetarian animals in the green bin.

I have a spare wheelie bin since I requested a new one when the lid cracked, and they never took the old one away. I keep a bin bag in it, with the top trapped in the lid so it doesn't fall to the bottom. The offerings from the lawn are collected using dog poo bags (don't have any pets myself, went on to Amazon to buy them and found myself wasting hours reading reviews ...) then added to the bin bag. On waste collection day (once every 3 weeks) the bin bag is tied up and added to the "live" wheelie bin.

I do "No Mow May" to the extreme in my front garden; I only cut the grass last week. Didn't find any poo at all, the long grass seems to have kept them away. It will be a different matter in the winter.

For areas of open soil I put lots of obstacles in their path. I collect used coffee stirrers (wooden) from work - they're like a very long thin lolly stick, and they're ideal for sticking in the ground around where you have planted stuff.

I get a lot of fox poo too, I've noticed all the fruit stones in it and think that must be rather uncomfortable coming out, they are only little animals!

And, @Sheal , in Finland - and possibly elsewhere, I don't know - it's a legal requirement to keep your cat on your own property - which means indoors if you're in a flat, or securely fenced if you have a garden.

There are lots of places in the US where they have coyotes, bears etc so can't let the cats roam. If the whole garden can't be made secure, they make a "Catio" i.e. a very large outdoor cage with sitting areas at various heights.

A cat in an outside cage? Just the idea of that makes me so sad.

Not permanently, the cat lives in the house and has periods in the "catio" where it can watch the birds etc. Sometimes the "Catio" is an extension of the house e.g. the garden patio is fenced in and the cat can freely come and go via the back door (which is where "catio" derives from).

A friend of mine had a cat which was in an RTA and lost a leg. They have now built him a catio and he loves it.
My cats have always lived in the house and they are quite happy. But they are quite a docile breed. I do let them out in the garden when I can supervise, and they enjoy that, but they rarely try to escape although the fence is only 5ft high so easy for them to jump if they want to.
Midnight jumps over occasionally and I open the gate and he is trotting back towards me and quite happy to come back in.
Admittedly I am surrounded by concrete - might be different if there was a field nearby.

I read somewhere many years ago you can buy a poo bin you bury in the garden that has chemicals in it a bit like a portable toilet for your boat or small caravan that turns it into a form of manure that then leaks out somehow to fertilise your border.

Yes, I looked into that at one point but the reviews for the devices were not encouraging!

@waterbut . We had one of those when we had pets.
Metaphorically and literally speaking, it was a pile of shttt! Absolutely useless.

We have got one of those right now. Rescue cat, probably ex-house-only cat. Won’t go out if it’s at all breezy. Won’t go out if it’s in any way moist underfoot. Not sure about that sunshine. Has a litter tray in the cellar and uses that. Ventures five yards outside and retreats back indoors after maybe a pigeon has stared too hard at it.:)

You cannot win with cats. We have a rescue cat and put in a cat flap. Now we never see the cat except at her breakfast time, lunch time and her evening meal sometimes.
