Did anyone see that Sue Grey is paid more than Starmer.
Who pays her, us or the Labour party?

Anyway, on News watch yesterday they showed a bit where Chris Mason, the BBC news reporter was discussing the fact that she gets paid more than the PM.

Somebody had written in to point out the BBC pay Chris Mason £100,000 more than she gets, there is a deep trough out there that certain people all have their noses in.

Pay scales need sorting out from top to bottom, and lets not even mention a certain football pundit who appears to be god at the BBC.

People are paid what others are prepared to pay them :dunno: There's a perceived value a particular person brings to the organisation and it's got naff all to do with us how the organisation spend their money. When it's public money we're talking about then we get to vote a party out if we don't like it

And vote in another that does exactly the same!

The system doesn't work. Across the world, billions of people are kept in check by a few who do not have the good of society as their guiding principle. Because these politicians/dictators/royals/religious leaders have money and might on their side, nothing ever changes.

Reeves has said we must accept hard times or Britain faces ruin. But surely "ruin" is already here for many? What she means is we must accept hard times to ensure the wealthy carry on getting wealthier at an astonishing pace because they will accept no other situation. And if that means a collapsing NHS, housing crisis, fuel poverty, more and more resources in the hands of a few, and so on, well, that's an acceptable trade off. :th scifD36:

A Climate 100 list has been published of those championing the cause. Interestingly, many of them are extremely wealthy people. An archbishop (of where, I don't care) says god is green and anything else is anti-Christian. Mmmmmmm!

What always strikes me when these mega-wealthies start telling us all what we must do about this, none of them mentions war. What is the climate cost of the destruction, and inevitable rebuild, of Ukraine and Gaza? Strangely, though the BBC manages to shoehorn global warming into every single story, it never ever mentions it in relation to war.

Mentioning shoe horns, how many times did Reeves mention the 22 billion pound black hole in that interview on TV this morning.
She sounds like an AI voice, I'm not convinced she is real.

@ViewAhead I doubt we are the only ones who wonder about the effect warmongering has on the Climate issue. Not only the devastation on the ground and all that involves but the effect on the atmosphere too- I don't suppose the constant explosions actually puff out uncontaminated air after all. Armaments are big business - says it all reaally.

I'd like to be fair to the BBC - maybe they presume the majority of their viewers/listeners are bright enough to put 2 and 2 together and arrive at 4 ? At least they do seem to have dropped their endless little "PS - so and so is a terrorist organisation " after every report on the current war in Gaza. Something to be grateful for at least.

As for Keir Starmer accepting donations in the form of clothing for his wife ???? They are obviously capable of dressing themselves ( a tleast no pics of them wandering around in the nude ) and should have advised that particular donor to either sell the clothing and use the money to go towards that notorious Black Hole or bung it in one of the Clothes Banks - there are enough of them about after all.

For a supposed Socialist party they are proving little better than Tony Blair's lot. To include the word Labour in their party title is a complete oxymoron. The Tories aren't any better but I guess at least they kept the C in their title - capitalist, corruption, cunning and crap.

Got an email from BG saying they need to install a new electric meter as my economy 7 one wont work soon due to the switch off of the radio signal that keeps it at the correct time.

I have news for them, it hasn't been at the right time for at least the last 10yrs probably more, I dont think it is even one capable of running on a time signal anyway as its so old.

Just sounds like a good way of slipping in a smart meter to me if you dont really want one.

Then today i get an E mail from Virgin saying that my phone is being updated and I will have to connect it to my router and they will send me something to make that possible.
Knowing Virgin the adapter will be the size of a house brick and weigh about the same, it also means the phone will be in a different room to where it is now.

I'm all for improvement, but I also believe, if it aint broke dont fix it, especially as the new phone wont work in a power cut, and it means even more power cables to be trailed around the place, some parts of my house look like spaghetti junction already.

@pete I have a written agreement with BG that they won't put in a smart meter. :blue thumb:

With the phones, this is all to do with VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) and as far as I'm concerned I would rather not have it but BT are doing away with landlines. It was originally scheduled for the end of 2024, then pushed to end of 2025 and now to the end of 2027.

I've now got them to agree to do the installation for me, eventually, and that they will install an eight hour backup battery for the router and all free of charge as I'm a doddery old man :old:
