It's not looking good here for the week ahead @Robert Bowen. I'll be looking for a break in the sky to get out either into the garden or out for a walk. Or planning a new bog garden .

Not sure if I'll do much out there today. I got some more bulbs planted yesterday, after sorting out pots for them etc, and removed the single tom from it's pot and chopped that for the compost bin. Dug out a fern that had self seeded into a bed, as it was taking up room I wanted for other things, and prepped the area ready for some crocus or similar. It wasn't easy as it's been there a while and was very reluctant to come away.
Spent a little time watching all the sparrows having baths and generally being noisy and greedy. They're thoroughly enjoying themselves at the pond and the feeders.

I washed the car too- does that count? ;)

Well considering it's been raining since about 16:00 on Saturday, we havent done much in the garden this weekend.
Popped to 2 local GC's on sunday and didn't actually buy any plants, bought a few terracotta pots to put some of my spring bulbs in and some terracotta pumpkin for halloween as i absolutely hate the feeling of actual pumpkins...

Just had our garden waste bin emptied.
Within 10 minutes it was full again.
            Sigh!

Potted on some bellis seedling and a couple of nepeta walkers low cutting , took a few more nepeta cutting of two other variety's . Potted on some impatiens into larger pots and picked some tomatoes and ate a grape while in the GH , I am still muffed my seedless grape vine has seeds .

Got a alpine group meeting later , I am not to into alpines but they plants for sale cake and cup of tea .

My travels yesterday didn't come to much went to Holden clough nurseries with my plant voucher had to buy a plant to get a plant nothing really ticked my fancy , picked up a campanula purple sensation and got a free penstemon plum pensham which reminds me they still in the van . Popped into another GC on the way home for the sale section nothing to be had.

No not quite I took my mum with me to Newby hall / Harrogate I would of preferred to go on the bike though, I like to go the scenic run ( yorkshire dales / nidderdale national landscape last week ) which isn't great in the van roads to narrow can't take in the natural beauty the same, the rain ruined plans yesterday so went in the van but still did at bit of a scenic run going across the bottom of trough of bowland .

Not doing anything as it is now 3 days of non stop rain.
However we have noticed that for the first time our tree peony, Paeonia delavayi is flowering again.

Despite having an amber rain warning it didn't do much rain. But it is dark and murky.

Went round the garden to check on things. The mole was pushing up so I squashed him back down. Lots of raised mole tunnels and humps. Just hope he doesn't burst right through the lawn over night.

I could here the stream gushing on the other side of the fence. It drains the golf course and we are in a dip. But drainage was working well. We also have a land drain too, which is about 15 deep, with rungs so that you can climb down into it. This drains the estate via a soakaway and it was working well.

I have put a lot of plants in the GH so I can barely get in to check if mould is setting in.

Wiped down lots of pots that had grit splashed up their sides from the heavy rain yesterday.

Just waiting for it to dry up a bit to take cuttings etc.

Seeing how there was a forecast for rain starting today, yesterday I thought I would take advantage and I patched some areas in the lawn and then added lots of micro-clover seeds all over the lawn. What I hadn't considered is that temperatures will go down, especially tomorrow and Friday, which won't be great for germination :th scifD36:

(I like clover & it helps the lawn. Some people prefer a more strict mono-culture look, but I have chosen to be more relaxed about it since it saves me time and effort. As long as it's green, I'm happy with it).

Hastily mowed the lawn yesterday before the start of the 24 hour amber warning for heavy rain.
It has rained steadily all day today, not so heavy as forecast but a good soaking. So took advantage of the wet ground to do my autumn leatherjacket nematode treatment. Now feeling smug at my fantastic timing
