I think the reason I haven't dumped the land line a while back was that the saving was not much I did enquire.

We have two landlines, one each that are in regular use, with internet running on one of them. We're happy with that but not sure what it will be like after the changeover. We'll just wait and see :)

We definitely want to keep our landline as you can hear the phone ring anywhere in the house, and can answer it on either of the three phones located around the house. We did also think of having a separate landline just for BB - the price was not too bad.

We have a fax, but that may be a problem.

Re call centres keeping your calls on file, when you telephone larger organisations they do warn that your call may be recorded. How long they retain them and why is governed by the GDPR rules.

I've never had one inform me they are using voice recognition though, or ask my permission to identify me in that way. Fine if it is a law-enforcement agency and I am suspected of some wrongdoing, not fine otherwise.

Our bank asks if you want to do voice recognition when you do telephone banking. Press 3 to say NO!

Had my NHS email for flu and Covid jabs. Our surgery has already booked us in for the flu one. Very efficient this year. So not a moan.

I'm the opposite with regard to the bank. I only use my voice to control the accounts and have a special number to phone for it. I have set a rule that nothing can be removed from any of my accounts without my spoken permission. I have accounts registered online with the bank but all that can be done with the money in them is move it between my accounts.

I got a text message saying I could book for a covid jab and a flu jab at the same time.

I dont want either this year and it said I should contact them if I dont, bearing in mind how difficult it is to contact them when you do want something I dont think I'm jumping through all their hoops just to say no.:frown:

Having made light of the "sausages" blunder, can we consider this to be Labour's "light at the end of the tunnel"?

I've had a letter. I'm supposed to fill in the bottom and return it to refuse the jab. I did this last yr, hand delivered it to the surgery ... and 3 weeks later got an identical letter, asking me to fill in and return. Why bother if they can't deal with it efficiently when you do?

As someone who wouldn’t be here if it hadn’t been for the NHS at several vital moments, I value their existence beyond words. I happily fill in their sometimes crazy forms and answer their daft texts and hand in stupid letters. They are hard-pressed and not always making the best use of their valuable time but they are there. They do exist and we should do our best to smooth their continued existence. I humour them and their idiosyncratic ways and give them all a personal card and present at Christmas.

But when they cant answer the phone, presumably because they get too many calls, do they really need me adding to the list just to reply NO.
I could do that via text message, if they use that to contact me, as in this case, but the message says you cannot reply to it.
Why do they make simple things difficult.

Our surgery do quite a lot via text - it can be handy. I was in two minds whether to take them up on their invite to a cervical screening mind you...
