But generally without mass murder. ;) You can be king of the herd with a tennis racquet ... or by running a company ... or (to keep it relevant) winning "best in show" for your giant pumpkin!

Spot on! You call for an invasion, you lead the troops over the border. And I would also say MPs voting for conflict should have to relocate their families to the war zone. If you're willing to kill other people's children, you should be willing to lose your own. Fair's fair.

Insert some personal jeopardy, and there would be a bit more caution.

Reverting to letters from the NHS:-

Mrs Shiney got the letter about the RSV vaccination. In effect it is saying that the virus is much more dangerous to elderly people and could be life threatening to them - which is understandable. So it is very kindly offering free vaccinations to those aged 75-79. So it seems to be implying that if you're over that age they're not interested in saving you so you might as well pop your clogs.

Sorry @ViewAhead - I misunderstood about the texts. They could still have an option where you 'press 1' if you don't want to make an appointment though, and then another one to actually make it.
We get a letter, and then you can contact them if it doesn't suit so that they can re allocate. I often wonder how many folk just don't turn up though. It happens in ordinary doc's surgeries, so I expect it'll be the same with jags etc.

I think the elderly man who was assaulted, and subsequently died, after giving a little gobsh*te a telling off about riding his electric bike on a pavement, might not feel the same @pete if he was still around. He tried to run off, denied it all, and then got a paltry few years as a punishment. No justice for his family whatsoever. Makes me furious.

Oh, they couldn't do that as it would be convenient for patients. ;)

@shiney, these viruses that can tell if you are between 75-79 and up their game in response sure are clever things.

On the family farm we had a fox get in the chicken run and killed the lot without eating any, just for fun or practice. Think they can get into a frenzy with too much prey around. On the whole animals behave better than humans and it doesn't take much for humans to act like animals.

I think the phrase is, human nature, if you want that perfect world with no conflicts you would have to kill everyone off and start again, create the perfect individual and then clone them over and over.:biggrin::biggrin:

Given identical twins (effectively clones) don't always see eye-to-eye, even that might not be drastic enough. ;)

I just tried calling to make an appointment with a GP at our medical practice. After listening to endless waffle about changes to the system made nearly a year ago, I was advised to use e-Consult if calling before midday. I initially decided to hold on but was told I was 22 in the queue. I went on to e-Consult and went through screen after screen, providing the same information time after time only to be told at the end that they can't diagnose my problem on the system and to phone my GP. I didn't expect the robots to diagnose the problem, I assumed it was a way of getting the information to the GP.!!!!!!!

I've been directed to the online thing by my doctors surgery, I've found it to be totally useless, there never seems to be any appointments available,.......this year and the rest is just telling you to call 111.
I've never been able to do what I wanted to do online.

I wouldn't be able to afford to phone my GP. My landline calls cost about 50p to connect and then about 30p per minute, as I don't have a call package. The max monthly spend is about £65. When I absolutely had to phone the NHS to confirm I would be turning up for cataract surgery, my sister had to take over and do it on her mobile at her house. She was on hold for an hr and a half the first day and over an hr the second and never did get to the front of the queue. :noidea:

I opted for callback and I'm actually connected to the surgery now. Not too bad a wait time, roughly 90 minutes. Spoken to somebody who is now speaking to a GP with the photo I have sent through.

Just out of curiosity, why don't you have a call package? Unless you very rarely use the phone a call package should be no more than £8 a month.
