I wonder why social behaviour has deteriorated so much so rapidly. Is it sheer weight of numbers? Loss of community connection? Back when I was at school we had no lessons at all on any aspect of citizenship, health, or welfare. Indeed, we never even had a classroom debate or discussion on anything at all, whereas today's youngsters get endless hrs of personal development assistance. And yet I have never knowingly dropped a piece of litter in my life, I hold open doors for strangers (even when my experience latterly suggests the recipient of my politeness will barge through without any acknowledgement), I let other road users into queues, and so on. So, how has it got to this? 'tis a mystery. :dunno:

I wonder, do these places have rangers,I know they can't be everywhere but they can keep an eye on the suspicious looking ones.
Most national parks have some kind of police force with proper powers to move undesirables on.

I certainly wouldn't want to be in that queue @JWK ,it's nearly as bad as the one for everest.

@ViewAhead I think these days, education establishments are taking over the role of parents in all sorts of ways. A school/college/university used to be for academic education but now feel it necessary to include all manner of "social" care too.
Difficult to know who or what to blame in all circumstances.........parents ( no time / unable to deal with issues / can't be bothered or just don't want to know ? Social Media..........has a lot to answer for regarding anti social behaviour as well. The political atmosphere doesn't help either - if governments in whatever country cannot resist lying, corruption, warmongering and every "ist" or "ism" going, it's not altogether surprising that people grow up with a rather warped sense of right or wrong.

Official charity collections and unfortunately 'chuggers' too, are licenced by the local authority. Many require buskers to be licenced too. Maybe this person wasn't licenced and was therefore committing an offence.

I get fed up every time I see some parent on the TV who has had a problem.
And they are campaigning for so and so's law or want this or that added to the school curriculum.

Schools are for teaching reading and writing, basically, within reason, the rest is down to the parents, sort your kids out and don't expect everyone else to do it.
If you haven't got the time then maybe you shouldn't have had so many.

Why do I see so many single parent families on the TV moaning that they cant afford to feed their kids, its usually the Mother, so where is the Father, have they given up chasing them to support their offspring and expect the tax payer to pick up the bill.

I think we see single mums and benefit claimants on TV because the media agenda is to present them in a bad light. At the opposite end of the scale, we see luxury hotels glorified, with no mention of their carbon footprint. It's all about media narratives, not a representation of reality, IMV.

But they are not always out to present them in a bad light, its mostly that they are working but still cant afford to feed the kids.
There is no disputing there are a lot of them around.

Glencoe is a huge area @pete, and it isn't quite the same as the National Parks like L. Lomond and the Trossachs, which is relatively close. There are only a few folk generally, to try and maintain what is a National Trust area, and one which is somewhat tricky to cover.
I found this article. Interestingly, it also mentions G. Etive, which is at the 'entrance' to Glencoe, and that problem I already talked about. It's from about 5 years ago - nothing really changes, just gets worse.
The title is a bit ironic though....

Is it me ... or are the 4 Tory leadership candidates an unedifying bunch? It wouldn't matter much if Keir had made a good start, but he seems determined to be a one-term PM (or possibly even a part-term one), which means whoever bags the Tory prize might make it to No.10. :hate-shocked:

I think the whole party is unpalatable for now so whomever lands the job has a thankless task. There's also lots of time for replacements after this one :heehee:

Until we get a party that people want to vote for, rather than one because they don't like the other lot, I think we are doomed.
We also need more of what they will achieve instead of spending all their time running down the other parties.
