    My physalis is literally touching a dead blighted tom and its unaffected, goes to show what... 50 million years!?!? can do! Wow, didnt know they were that far apart according to one paper I found.

    If I remember thats about when primates first appeared, so theyre as closely related as we are to lemurs :ccheers:

      Yes never had blight transfer to physalis, Datura seems to be unaffected as well.

        We used to do a round robin seed parcel but it needs someone to organise it and relies on members to pass it on promptly which didn't always happen.

        A tomato seed swap is a good idea @Fred Clarke, shall I start a thread just for it?

          Thanks, JWK. That sounds like a great idea but I'm not surprised it didn't catch on, in previous attempts. That job will be something of a chore, I'm sure. (I'm a poet and didn't know it).

          If you are willing to do that John, then I'm in - at least until we know the interest and whether it will be worth it.

          I will keep an eye open on GC but I'm out of the UK for a fortnight. That's probably just enough time for you to gauge the response. Don't make yourself a lot of work. We can always announce that it's a non-starter.

          Between us, I know that there are a few swappers of FB but I hate using FB. I do, however, like using GC.

          Many thanks.

            This is my last photo of tomatoes for this year, all the ripened toms have either been eaten mostly by myself :biggrin: or frozen ready for canning. These few (2kg) mostly green will be used to make Chutney with a few more added ingredients... apples, red pepper, onions and spices etc.

              In the greenhouse today, three plants have nearly finished so I've removed their leaves, one has botrytis, one has alternaria, the other I accidentally snapped the stem. The other eight plants are still producing well

                Do you sieve or whizz up your tomatoes whole after cooking?

                    Picked this little lot today before pulling up most of the tomato plants. Still got a couple of bush tomatoes in the front garden and forecast is nice for the next day or so will let them get a bit more sun before they go the same way. 2024-10-03_14-56-55.jpg

                      @Philippa

                      Alternaria is a fungal disease causing black leaf spots, the plant started wilting. I've seen it on potatoes before but first time I've had it on tomatoes. The surrounding tomatoes look healthy so it's not very infectious.
