This sort of thing is so disappointing. He had a real opportunity to be different from the last lot, but he's just the same. Possibly slightly worse. The Tories don't go round pretending to be on the side of ordinary people. We know they are in it for themselves and just have to hope the policies they favour have some benefits for us too. Labour pretends it is the party that will improve things for the majority ... and then morphs into something that no one would vote for. I guess it is why they are so rarely in power.

Another eg of statistical manipulation, this time by a major high street bank. :nonofinger:

So, the branch I have been with since I was 18 (even though I now live 70 miles away) was earmarked for closure. I was informed in advance that my account would be moved to the nearest alternative ... which it was. Then that one closed. I wasn't informed, but my new cheque book shows a different branch. I did a bit of research and the bank reported only 8 customers used the branch weekly. Now, on the face of it that looks a fair reason. But, of course, it does not mean only 8 people went through the doors between Monday opening and Saturday closing. It means only 8 individual customers went in every week without fail, which is not the same thing at all. There could have been dozens, hundreds even, going in regularly but not just hitting a weekly count.

Starmer gets £166,786 salary as pm, plus God knows how much in expenses so not being able to afford himself a few clothes is a clue to his capabilities.

He can't even blame supporting ex-wives, mistresses, and sundry out-of-wedlock offspring as a reason for financial constriction.

The fact they think they have done nothing wrong just points out how rife taking bribes is, not just amongst government but all MPs.
They see it as the perks of the job.

I also wonder how much of it gets taxed.

The problem we have, is, they live in a world of executives getting £200,000 salary and then getting a couple of million bonuses on top, so they see their few thousand perks to be of no consequence.

I have never seen a reason for "perks" to exist. You do a job, you get paid a salary! End of!

I always gave my staff perks. Usually a night out in the West End and going by stretch limo. Part of the night out would have been related to work, then a meal and disco.

They said she was on the way out last week on GB news.
I think she has just been shifted, dont think she is off the payroll.

It’s the first time in ages that I was still sleeping at 8 this morning when my mother called me and woke me up. She had forgotten that we are 1 hour behind Germany.
