I find all this very disturbing. We didn't have flu jabs until after Covid. We have had all the boosters for Covid that we are allowed to have (just today) but are we just putting into our system more issues? Don't know but feel that we should take advantage of any vaccines that may help us and stop us spreading the virus.

      @strongylodon

Apologies that was a poor choice of words, I didn't mean to belittle it. I have a cousin with long covid and understand how debilitating it can be.

That's ok @JWK, I am sure you didn't mean it that way.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'we didn't have flu jabs....' Flu jabs have been around for years.

@KT53 but we didn't have them. Yes they have been around for years but we chose not to have them. Rightly or wrongly we didn't have the jabs and in all those years we never thankfully caught flu. After Covid we decided we needed to be more aware as we are older and so have had the flu jabs now for a couple of years.

Everyone is welcome to make their own decision on whether they have any jabs as we don't live in a police state - Yet!

I never had flu jabs until a few years ago, but didn't have them last year nor covid, there is even some thinking that getting you dog vaccinated every year is killing them off early.

Anyone remember Gulf war syndrome, thought to be connected to vaccinations, I'm not anti vac but think all things in moderation might be better in the long run.

I have all my jabs each year, it didn't sadly stop me getting Long Covid.
My energy levels are still well down since 2020. 20 mins of gardening &
my body needs a long rest. Walking up hill or the stairs is a killer for me.

I never used to bother with flu jabs when I was younger. I only started having them once I retired a few years before Covid raised its ugly head. I've had both the flu and covid vaccines ever since they became available and have never even had symptoms of Covid. Whether that's luck or the vaccine I can't say, but I'm not about to experiment to find out.

Makes you wonder if its actually the jabs causing it.
Some people do have adverse reactions.

That's one of those unanswerable questions isn't it. Might the situation have been worse without the vaccine, or did the vaccine cause the problem. Some people will have adverse reaction to any particular treatment, but that doesn't mean everybody should stop having it.

No I wasn't suggesting everyone should stop having it, but just maybe some people should stop having it.
None of this has been tested long term, so its kind of lets try it out on the population and see what the long term outcome is.

In 20 yrs they might know more, lots of medical scandals have gone on over the years and even ones where they know the medicine was not good but it was hushed up at the time.

@pete I didn't think you were suggesting nobody should be vaccinated. Covid was a unique situation and the normal development timescales for new vaccine was reduced, in large part by overlapping testing phases, from several years to about 12 months. If I'd had a severe adverse reaction to a vaccine I'm sure I would be thinking twice about having it again, but thankfully I haven't. I do know one person who was very ill and hospitalised in the early days, and they lost a parent to Covid at around the same time. There are consipiracy theorists out there who believe the whole thing was made up. They are probably members of the Flat Earth Society too.

I asked around at 2 local pharmacies and our surgery this morning what covid vaccine they were using and all said Moderna. Two years ago hubby was very ill after his Moderna jab - he was bedbound for 3 days, lost half a stone and was drenched in sweat, shook and was extremely cold. It took 4 weeks for him to feel OK. We told our surgery at the time, but they just said to see the GP, but hubby said he was too ill to go in there. So nothing was done. Last year we had Pfizer and that was OK. No side effects at all.

So it seems the NHS are only using Moderna? Not sure hubby will want to have one. I have heard of others being very ill on Moderna, but this is not published.

Anyone managed to get a Pfizer one?

Oh, it seems it's not updated for the latest variant.

We got ours yesterday. I asked what it was and the nurse said it was Biontech’s “Comirnaty”.

We got our flu jabs at the same time (different arms). Today, I can’t tell that they did anything to me at all. No soreness, stiffness, nada. Hubby is feeling a bit sorry for himself and is hugging a hot water bottle but can’t say which one of the jabs did it as neither of his arms is in any way sore.
