One of my ancestors got his name changed without his permission when he was enlisted to fight in WW1. The enlisting scribe couldn’t spell or pronounce his real surname (British) so Anglicised it. I only found out when I started to do a bit of genealogy.

A similar thing happened with my ancestors for the same reason. My mother had two brothers one of which went into the army and the other into the airforce. The man recording the army one didn't know how to spell his name and was in too much of a hurry to bother. He he entered his surname as almost the same as his middle name. His middle name was Phillip so the man just added an S to that and he was Richard Phillips forever more!

The man in the airforce got the surname correct without even commenting on it.

If you cross a cockapoo and a labradoodle, do you get a cockadoodle?

And when you let it out to do it's business, would that be a cockadoodledoo?

Ah, but we can't know that for sure. Some may be looking down from a celestial cloud fuming at the use of their private data for commercial purposes. Others, of course, may be chuffed about the attention.

I think we should be able to incorporate in a Will what we want done with our online data when we depart. I would favour freezing for a period of 2 yrs (the data, not my mortal remains :)) and then a blanket wipe unless there was a very pressing reason not to, eg the cirs of my demise were still being investigated. In any event, who could see my virtual footprint should become severely limited.

If they come to my door; I will commiserate with them give them a cup of tea and a tour of the garden and then send them off to see my brother, who would be thrilled to appear on TV.

I've spoken to a few people who are going to or have had the flu jab but are not having the Covid jab. Nobody seems to have any particular reason apart from a gut reaction (not literally!).
Can anyone give me a reason for this?

Only a guess as all my friends that have been for jabs have had both at the same time.

The guess is that they may have heard of people that have had a bad reaction to the covid jab. I certainly know of some of them that have had problems.

It would be useful if there was a list of which jab centres did what type. Still looking for a Pfizer one. I think Boots may do them, but only by appointment at a few centres. The NHS website says you can't choose which you have - well you can if you travel a bit.

I had a genealogist call on me some years ago. He asked for me by my maiden name. It was clever of him to track me down since I had been married a good 20 years at the time and had moved. It was genuine - something to do with a will. Unfortunately my dad's name was not John. The chaps name was Roger Ranson A.C.I.B.
