It leaves the account open for another year as it has had money put into it. You are able to withdraw money from it whenever you like. Otherwise they will close it because of lack of use. :noidea:

But surely if you have an account with no money in it you still get fined if they cant take the money.

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough. :wallbanging:

The account usually has some money in it but if you don't use it for a long time they email you and tell you that they consider you don't want the account and you should withdraw what you have left. Then they close it. If you put in some extra money and then withdraw that same amount you still have what small amount was still in the account. The computer reads that as action on the account so leaves it running.

Oh I see, I think if I had an account and hadn't used it I'd probably close it anyway, on the occasions I've used the crossing I've just gone online next day and paid.
Personally I think there shouldn't be a charge anyway, it was said it was to pay for the building of the bridge last time I heard, but as the bridge has now been paid for they still keep the charge going.
        Highway robbery, literally.

There's a few of us in the family (north and south of the river) that have one account but during Covid we didn't use it and had to use that ploy to keep the account open.

Could be one reason why. Orsted and Vattenfall who had the contracts to build Hornsea 3 and Norfolk Boreas have said costs have increased by 40pc since they won the contract at £37.35 per MWh, which is resulting in the projects are now not financially viable.

The subsidies in the States are even better than the UK but Orsted are prepared to take a financial hit by pulling out of the New Jersey wind farms than carrying on at the agreed MWh strike price.

Get the feeling the cost of electricity is not going to come down in price anytime soon.

Anyone who says, or thinks that wind farms are going to bring down the price of electricity are living in cloud cuckoo land.
Any savings that might be made will be soaked up by big business or governments.

Build the reactors and power the people, pay Musk or his ilk to fire the untreatable waste into the sun. Cross fingers and hope for the best. :what:

I'm not completely convinced that the excellent reduction in my electricity bill arising from my modest contribution to the cost of a ripple wind turbine comes from cloud cuckoo land...

...It seems to actually come from Wales in this particular instance...

...and the free electricity I use at times of excess generation, at least part of which is wind, also sadly suffer from any link with nest invading birdlife...

Still, I wouldn't let pesky facts get in the way of a nice satisfying sweeping generalisation...

Is that a sweeping generalisation? :roflol:

I like that - yes I'd say it's noticing a specific example of a general pattern...
