Latest Moan From You and Me 2024

I've noticed a couple of mentions on here about a RSV jab - can someone enlighten me as to what this is please ? TIA

 

They seem to be trailing a jab for the winter vomiting bug that seems to arise every winter mostly in hospitals.
More and more arms required.

So is that the one they were calling the pneumonia jab a few years ago?

 

I threw mine away seconds after I opened it, but seem to remember a cut off date in December before which you need to apply.

 

I'm not sure how a vaccine could stop a bug that makes you throw up.

 

I wonder what the logic is to only offering it to a narrow age band between 75 and 79? I assume under-75s are regarded as being less vulnerable, but what about ages 80+? I understand from the government info that it's a one-off, not an annual vaccine, but surely there are many people already over 80 who haven't had the chance to get it?

Didn't you know, the NHS stop caring for you after you reach 80, unless you keep reminding them, lots of the screening stuff stops at a certain age and its up to you make a nuscence of yourself.

I had a one off pneumonia jab a few years ago, that's why I was wondering if it was the same as RSV.

 

I think they got a job lot of it from somewhere, maybe a lab had developed it and abandoned it, and wondered what to do with it. Probably calculated the number of 75 to 79 year olds that would take it up fitted with the amount they had.

 

They probably think it's not value for money to give it to the really old f*rts!

 

I was reading earlier today about somebody who complained to their local council that their recycling bin had been broken by the refuse collectors. They were informed by the council that they would have to pay for a new one unless they had video evidence that the refuse collectors damaged it. Photographs of the damage weren't enough as the householder could have done the damage. I can just see everybody in the streets videoing them at work. That would go down well.
