I have just been out to fill up the bird feeders and the plant saucer that I use as a bird bath/drinking fountain, come back in, sat down, looked out of the window and the cat from across the way is drinking out of the bird bath!

I was in the garden the other day and a robin came down and perched near me and sang really softly. I've been told that this is "practice mode" - they practise their new songs before launching them at full volume from on high. Researchers also think that birds might just be singing for fun sometimes - that the action releases pleasure hormones.

 

Some people don't provide enough water for their cats. I once found the hind feet and tail of a cat sticking out of my watering can. It was a dry period and there were only a few drops in the bottom of it. Cat managed to extract itself successfully.

 

Lots of blackbird activity in the garden currently. I forgot to bring in this tray and it filled with rain water. The bird has something stuck to her head!

 

I've got some jam that's been open too long and is smelling winey, so I've been putting out a teaspoon at a time for the wasps. It's amazing how quickly they find it - but it does tend to cause fights!

 

We occasionally get oyster catchers here - even thought we're a good 20 to 30 minutes from the coast. Regularly got them at the last house, which was technically Ayrshire, although just on the edge of East Ren. Lovely birds.

I saw a small flock of geese flying overhead last week. I was sitting in the lounge, and no chance of getting the camera. Nice to see them though.

Now how did he get here?

 

I found one of those last week.

 

That is possible.
I do hope the the next tenant of my house doesn't get these nasty fleas again. Next year, I will think twice before I clean the house.
