Dobbies in Inverness will be closing on 21st December.

I've always found them overpriced in comparison to other garden centres, but today I picked up a Choisya Ternata 'Sundance' for £9 in a 3 litre pot - a 30% discount.

Edit: Other plants have a 50% discount.

Thanks for the info. Our local one is closing too. Maybe worth actually checking them out for a change. As @Sheal says they are normally overpriced to start with.

£9 for an easily propagated shrub sounds expensive to me...but I'm tight. I'd roam the streets looking in peoples gardens for a plant I wanted, then knock on the door and ask to exchange cuttings....but like I said, I'm tight

I actually doubt there will be much available. There is another Dobbies about 20 minutes drive up the motorway so I suspect most excess stock will be moved to there.

That's all very when there's time to propagate and wait for them to mature enough to plant out. Having moved house recently I need plants now not in three years.

Why do the plants we want, grow slowly and the weeds we don't want, grow fast? Nature has a wicked sense of humour!

It does @ArmyAirForce. And you can guarantee the day you need to do something outside is the day it rains. My weather seems to have a habit of waiting for me to finish doing necessary things indoors, attiring myself in the right gear, and then opening the heavens two minutes after setting foot outside.

In addition to Sheal's, you need space for all these pots and someone who cares for them in these years. £9 is too cheap for that.
