How Will the Budget Affect You, Thoughtful Gardeners?

Expect prices to rise, once businesses have to increase their spending on no increased productivity, or they reduce their workforce.

Plus, the fiddling of the figures for government borrowing and national debt is a failure to live in the real world.
If I could have done the same years ago, I'd have written off my mortgage, theoretically, but in reality, the lenders would still demand their money.

What a load of twaddle RR came out with. She could have done better, but will confuse the masses with her changing the goalposts. But, the result is the same. More debt, higher taxes and increased costs.

Fellow gardeners, prepare to grow more food, produce more self-grown plants, and create your own compost in larger quantities.

 

Perversely, the biggest losers appear to be those engaged in farming, upon whom we all depend for the proportion of our food that we cannot grow.
The withdrawal of inheritance tax relief from working farmers means that not only will farming families be faced with division or sale to meet transfer to the offspring of the farmer but that the holding will be forced to pay 20-% inheritance tax to the avaricious Government, where the holding exceeds £1million in value; which equates to only 40 hectares on average.
The loss of family farms will affect not only the food supply but alter adversely the countryside , environment and nature that we generally all enjoy.

 

In 20 years the only farms we will have will be wind and solar "farms", who are they trying to fool with that word, "farm".
Too soon to say as I've not really had time to look at the budget but it looks at first sight to be inflationary to me, put up costs to businesses and they just pass it on, seems to be obvious to me, but I'm not clever like they are.

Borrow more money and your interest payments rise.

Growth growth growth, but what exactly does that mean, import more people I guess.

At 1640 according to national grid solar and wind are producing 11% of our energy is it worth it

 

One article I read says the NI increase will cost employers around £650 per employee per year. I suspect employees who do manage to hang onto their jobs can wave goodbye to any annual bonus.
As others have said, the change to inheritance tax for farmers will destroy many farms.

 

..... and did I hear that Council Tax reduction for single house occupants will be removed? If so, that immediately increases council tax by 33.3%.
So, Labour saying they wouldn't tax the working person is true, hitting retired widows and widowers, is kept!!
Hit the poor retiree, having already taken away their winter fuel allowance.

No mention of it in the Budget today; but as always, wait until the fine print emerges in a day or two....

 

What is the point of a penny off draught drinks, a penny, granted its better than a penny on but is it worth fiddling with.

 

Martin Lewis has tweeted that council tax is unchanged.

 

I'm sure there will be much more meat put onto the bones of the Budget statement over the next days and weeks. As it stands though, there's nothing I can see to affect me directly one way or t'other.
