There seems to be a row brewing about Doctors surgeries not being exempt from paying the extra NI contributions, whereas other NHS services are, likewise the poor old Hospices that have to rely on mostly charity to survive, its not really been thought through as to who they are harming and they dont seem to want to give exemptions .

'Labour fiscal policy' and 'thought through' will rarely be seen in the same conversation.
She's doing a damn good job of making the policies of Liz Truss seem eminently sensible!

I can't access that link as I don't accept cookies (unfortunate term in this case :heehee:) and it won't let me access the link but I do know something about Stevia.

I used to grow it and use it but it is a pain in the backside to extract the usable part of it without the slightly bitter natural taste coming with it.

Unfortunately, most Stevia you can buy in this country is adulterated with artificial sweeteners. I buy mine in liquid form, unadulterated, from the U.S.

As with all things, used in moderation it is fine. It works extremely well for people with Type 2 Diabetes. I find it good in tea and my morning porridge. If I want sprinkling 'sugar' I use Xylitol which, again, is fine in moderation - too much may give you the runs :hate-shocked:. Made from the Birch tree.

Xylitol has a very similar molecular construction to sorbitol, hence the side-effect.

Re Reeves, hospices really need exemption. As it is, they run almost entirely on donations, which is a complete disgrace. Care for the elderly and dying needs much better funding.

Starmer has said NHS staff have got to work harder. I take it he has never done a week of shifts. :th scifD36: It is not the fault of front line staff that there is such pressure on services. There may be scope for working better, but working harder is not the solution. Actually, I don't think there is a solution. The triple whammy of population growth, an ageing demographic and new treatments coming on line all the time will always mean any extra money gets mopped up just standing still.

OBR error cut £18bn of headroom from the Budget
An Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) error has left chancellor Rachel Reeves with £18bn less headroom in her spending plans, potentially fuelling investor concerns about her first budget.

              I stopped reading after "budget".
Who knows what she is doing with the money.

I used to work once for a private tax office in Germany and was really surprised when a customer called that she was missing 500k EUR. It was all transferred, and as it turned out, she had overlooked it in her bank account.

I think the government are using the post office horizon system to do their accounting.

It's vile IMO @pete. The kind of stuff that sticks to the roof of your mouth. Once was enough for me!

...And how very dare you - we'd never produce something hideous like that. Just the deep fried Mars bars... :heehee:

And Rachel Reeves is going to have to pay it back out of her own money.
                              Or she goes to prison.
