    Its Friday.jpg
Well another Friday arrives and this weekend will be very poignant for many. Roads around here will be closed on Sunday as parades for Remembrance Day will be carried out. I hope that it will stay dry for the sake of all participants. Its Canasta day for me today - meeting up with my U3A friends in the neighbouring village. Whatever you have planned for today, make it a good one.

@Ergates, what a great bargain to drop on - wish I could find a Barbour jacket like that! Having said that I have enough coats in my wardrobe already. I am still waiting for Tesco to get its C*******s jumpers in. At our Fayre this year everyone is donating their old jumpers to be 'sold' with a chance people can pick up a new, pre-loved one for this year. Speaking of those seasonal jumpers, I have now knitted 9 tiny ones. I'm eagerly awaiting a new knitting pattern book with 60 different blanket squares patterns so I can whittle down my stash of yarns, knitting blankets to go to the Ukraine/or to take to the Food Bank for our customers who live in tents on the canal side.

        Good morning everyone!!

We had a sudden storm last night with heavy rain. Sunny this morning. A trip to Lidl and the markets is the highlight of the day.

Good morning. On parade early as we don't know when the nurse is coming to do our jabs. I'd have thought it more efficient to make us go to them but maybe some of their customers are less mobile.

Have just done my weekly weigh and measure and it's mixed news. Since we started back in June, 4.5kg and 6cms each off waist and bum but only 2 off bust, hips and thighs - all key measurements for making clothes. Onwards and downwards.

On the bright side today as we have sunshine!! Just a few wisps of white here and there so gardening for me once the jab is done.

Sunday for me is preparing plants, savoury snacks and mulled cider to take to the plant swap on Monday. Armistice is a public holiday in France and Belgium. In Belgium the Bourgmestre and Echevins lay wreaths on their war memorials and there are military fly pasts. They do that in Paris at the Arc de Triomphe too but I've seen nothing locally which is odd as it was in the occupied part of France so you'd think they'd acknowledge the sacrifice of those who helped liberate them. Perhaps for them VE day is more important and it's also a public holiday.

Rob and I are off to the vet hopefully to have his stitches removed and his bucket discarded. Then it is going to be a lovely bath for him to get rid of the manky smell. It is usually a full scale manoeuvres exercise in the shower with me stripped off. The first thing he does after a bath is go out in the garden to have a roll to get rid of his delicious clean smell. That is a dog for you.

@Obelix-Vendée that is an impressive loss so well done to you. Do you know, I have drunk many a glass of mulled wine but have never drunk mulled cider. I'm assuming you mean 'still' cider as opposed to the fizzy stuff?
@Goldenlily26, you painted a lovely picture of Rob having his bath! Hope all goes according to plan at the Vet's and then the pair of you will have all that stress lifted from your shoulders.

Cider here is always sligtly fizzy @Ladybird4 and available as dry or semi sweet. I've been doing it for 3 years no and find it lighter and fresher than mulled wine, especially as a late morning "apéro" - Mulled cider

The gardening club organises the plant swap every Armistice Day, starting at 11 with shared drinks and nibbles then a BYO picnic and finally the plant swap. They're a very sharing bunch.

Bathtime sounds like fun @Goldenlily26. I hope he's all cleared up now.

Morning all. Head still full of concrete, which is irritating because it's dry and not too cold for gardening. Might try a short session later on, after I've taken back my overdue library books.

Wish I could lose 6cm off my waist, @Obelix-Vendée ! Congrats. I'm programmed to be apple shaped, but the apple has slowly got more rotund as the years wear on. I'm the same weight as I was when I got married, though, so I guess I just have to put up with it!

We found a Barbour shirt (moss green needlecord) in the local charity shop for €5, in OH's size. All we need now is some winter weather, cold enough for him to want to wear it. It was 17.9C on Wednesday, ridiculous for November. We'll need to cut the grass again soon.

I'm an hourglass @Liriodendron and whilst happy with the loss so far I really need more to go off top and bottom. Patience and persistence needed and keep doing the exercises to maintain muscle mass.

It's warm here too and dry but has been feeling cold cos of the lack of sunlight. I'm hoping the sun today will warm up the house a bit as it shines in. Maybe a dose of fresh air will help clear your head.

Nurse has just been but has forgotten her card reader so has to come back. She'll find out when she gets to the next patient and tries to read their carte vitale which we all have to have to show to confirm ID and eligibility for services like free vaccines.

I never find clothes my shape in charity shops but we did find a great pair of gardening wellies for OH a couple of years ago and in a street market in Belgium I found a leather coat going for 5€ - it had a removable warm lining which had gone missing so ended up in the rejects sales. It's smart and fine for keeping out the wind and can be worn over warm jumpers so a bargain. Possum borrows it a lot.

                      Good morning all.

I was an hourglass when I was young, had a small waist, now I'm an apple and weigh quite a bit more than when I was married to 1st OH.

It's another grey looking day. I'm going outside to see if I can find room for my tulips.

                        Good afternoon,

Been to church today to help prepare the floral displays ready for the Armistice service on Sunday.

We went to our local English Heritage property for our walk around the gardens yesterday only to find that they have changed the opening days this year to only be Saturday and Sunday during the winter months (apart from special occasions such as Xmas)I knew the Hall would be closed for the winter, but in the past, the gardens have been accessible. A bit of a disappointment, but never mind. We went to a nearby GC for a light lunch instead.

Yet another drab day. Feels a bit chillier, too.

                          Afternoon all.

Yet another dull day here but grateful to see some Autumn colours still remain.

I’ve ordered my food shop to collect tomorrow- just for a change and to try out. 50p to not walk round is probably worth it when I already know what I need and I don’t need long dates this week (I am that person who rummages to the back to have the longest dates on meat etc).

I hope everyone is having a good day.

It's a meagre 5 degrees and dank. No sun all day.
We went out for lunch. I had a starter as my main, of bubble and squeak, black pudding and poached egg with hollandaise.
I was disappointed to find all sorts of veg in the b & s, including my nemesis, sweet potato. Gave the whole thing a nasty sweet taste. I immediately thought 'left over veg'. I left most of it.
He had a hearty portion of gammon, egg and chips and is already muttering he's hungry!

Evening all, it feels chilly here so have drawn all the curtains and blinds to keep the warmth in.
Slept like a log all night which was good.
Had a nice morning, my friend kindly picked me up and we went to our local GC for the three C's which we enjoyed. I bought a half price foxglove mertonensis and other goodies.

I don't like sweet potato much either @Penny_Forthem and wouldn't have thought it worked well in b & s. Our pub grub last night was good, sourced locally in sensible portion sizes and reasonably priced to boot. My highlight was my apple and blackberry crumble served in a dinky pottery teacup (and saucer) with cream/icecream served in another cup. Very novel.

Hope your jabs will be okay @Obelix-Vendée, we've decided we'll have them separately next year as two sore arms made sleeping very uncomfortable for a couple of days.

Well, did Rob rush out and roll in the garden after his wash @Goldenlily26? Glad he seems ok now.

That was a disappointment @Blue arbour, hope you enjoyed lunch at the GC.

My GP very kindly rang back after he'd spoken to a hospital neurologist. They think the nerve in my wrist is just bruised, not cut, so should heal but might take months. There is nothing that can be done apparently, they either heal or don't. He doesn't want to prescribe a special painkiller for nerve pain as it might make me fall over (!). No thanks, I'll stick to paras.

I keep thinking it's Saturday today so was going to watch Strictly. As it's Friday, it will have to be Monty and GW though.

                                Evening everyone.
Just wanted to ask if it’s normal behaviour on the site to suddenly lose all the back pages of Recent Posts? There used to be anything up to about 15 pages of them to browse through but from today, my iPad is only showing 15 posts of 15 posts, no back pages.Am wondering if something has gone wrong on iPad or whether it’s the Admin team clearing out some room/space? Perhaps @Fat Controller can help? Thanks.
                                @lizzie27 , I’ve been thinking it’s either Saturday or Sunday all week:th scifD36::scratch:
