Indeed, all are tiny or roots or plugs so will go into pots in the cold greenhouse until spring or later. I prefer buying my plants small and cheap and grow them on, or grow from seeds.

Seen that I had a bit of a windfall and won the Lottery on Saturday I don't need to skimp  (ok, the £4.90 didn't quite cover my wild shopping spree  ) but I like cheap things and the thrill of growing on from scratch :)

Which reminds me... Chiltern's seed catalogue is expected any week now! :hapydancsmil:

            £4.90 - aye, don't go daft! :heehee:
They should all come on well for you with a bit of time.

Chilterns' catalogues are fatal. Do you have a mortgage? Prepare to re do that. Your windfall will just about get a couple of packets of seed though

It seems Plant World Seeds are having a sale when I checked online the other day. I have a catalogue, which shows full price so may get some unusual seeds.

Looking out for my Chiltern Seeds catalogue. Remember they use to have Max the cat Mix that chose an assortment of seed? I used to buy that each year, but the cat died and I don't think they do it any more.

I'm always slightly wary of companies that have seed sales, especially if it's more unusual stuff.
It suggests to me that they have had some hanging around for a long time or have new stock coming in.
Maybe a gamble worth taking though.

My latest shrub purchases: Drimys Aramatico and Hamamelis Arnold Promise. I had no idea what the Drimys was, but the foliage is so pretty and with the promise of scented flowers too, it was a must have. The Hamamelis is the most expensive plant I've bought yet, but I'd set my heart on one for the front garden. There were several different varieties on offer and I only really knew I wanted a yellow one, so I picked the yellow variety that they only had one left of. On later googling, I think it was the right choice - it's a strongly scented one.

And then two half-price bargains from the end-of-season sale at B&Q - Cytisus Luna and Eleagnus Ebbingei. These are both destined for the front garden.

I bought Arbutus Unedo Rubra from Carbeth Plants via Amazon (free delivery :) ) but received something decidedly un- Rubraish.

I contacted the nursery directly and they agreed that this is probably Compacta sent in error. They have just shipped a replacement Rubra and I don't have to return the Compacta- so two Arbutus for £10.99 :)

Excellent customer service and the unplanned Compacta is a nice, sturdy plant.
