So beautiful, @Plantminded. :dbgrtmb: I am a big fan of snow, possibly because we so rarely get any down here (a dusting once a decade on average), I never have to cope with its inconveniences!

Thank you @ViewAhead, it doesn't happen often here, already last night's fall is on the melt. It does transform a garden, but if it lingers, after three days and I want it gone!

I think the Wirral is probably amongst the mildest parts of the country.

Just a pic of the Melianthus major, which always looks at its best around now before it starts to get frosted.

We seem to have a unique microclimate here @pete but I’m not sure that I would have success with exotics like you do!

I'd be surprised if you didn't, I'd say winters are probably colder here, summers usually a bit warmer.

@Plantminded a late friend of mine, who was one of the founders of the Australasian Plant Society lived where you are, and grew an amazing range of things outside. His book on Oz plants in UK might still be available. "Australian plants - a guide to their cultivation in Europe" Thomas Ross and Jeffrey Irons

Thank you @CarolineL, that’s encouraging! I’ll have a look for that book. I spent ten years in the Caribbean when I was young and have grown several hardy but tropical looking plants to remind me of the plants there such as bamboo, grasses and palms. I’m thinking about replanting one of the sunniest beds in my garden next year so will start looking into more colourful exotics to experiment with :).
