I enjoyed this weekend’s show and great comments from you all.

I forgot to post though as:

    1. I watched the results on catch-up.
    2. Pete’s trousers!

      Christmas Special celebrities * announced.

Tamzin Outhwaite (actress, formerly in EastEnders) dancing with Nikita Kuzman

Nitro (Gladiators) partnered with Nancy Xu

Tayce (Ru Paul's Drag Race contestant) partnered with Kai Widdrington

Vogue Williams (Media personality. Fairy washing tablets commercials) dancing with Carlos Gu. Could be good, apparently she's already taken part in Dancing with the Stars in Australia.

Josh Widdicombe (comedian) partnered with Karen Hauer.

Just one more celebrity * to be announced, (tonight I believe).

      * You may find the use of this word selective.

Josh Widdicombe is doing Paso. A less likely Paso candidate is hard to imagine but I expect Karen will manage a minor miracle - or else it'll be a comic turn.

Final celebrity is Billy Monger, a racing driver and TV presenter who will be dancing with Nadiya Bychkova.

I have heard of him, he lost part of both legs in a race accident at the age of 17 but returned to racing.

He certainly hasn't allowed the accident to stop him, or even slow him down. He recently did an Iron Man Marathon in Hawaii and beat the previous best for a double amputee by over 2 hours. It will certainly be interesting to see how he does. I hope they don't do the Charleston or people in the audience could be in danger from flying legs.

Tonight's programme begins quite early at 7.05pm. Included in the entertainment is Strictly's first Samba-thon .

I have heard the song "Easy Lover" many times over the years and never once have I thought "What a perfect piece of music for a Tango". Sometimes I wonder if it's me.
          (It probably is).
I thought Jowita did the best she could with what she was given, but I think Pete will need some luck to avoid the bottom 2.

I agreed with Craig's comments about Sarah and Vito's rumba. "Chains" starts off slow and sensuous but then becomes quite staccato (imo). There didn't seem much connection or flow to me.

As for Chris, oh dear. There was bound to come a time when he really would struggle and the paso double reminded me strongly of John Sargent. Diane said it was the trickiest of dances to explain, and he looked worried throughout. None of the joy of last week.
I did notice her quick reaction in moving her skirt out of his way as she was on the floor.
As for the Samba-thon, he didn't really have much of a chance as far as that was concerned.

Jamie (EastEnders chap) always seems undermarked and heavily criticised to me.
Shirley gave him a 7 and yet she gave Chris a 9. I suspect Chris felt somewhat patronised when her score was read out, although perhaps I read his expression wrongly.

JB's Charleston a bit clunky in places, Tash and Aliaz's perfect score hardly unsurprising considering the comments before they had even danced.

It will be interesting to see who is in the dance off.

Oo don’t read on here in case we give the result away later!

I hope it’s not Pete’s turn to leave, but it is likely at this point.

I loved Tash and Alijaz - about time we had a 40!

The Samba-thon was bound to disadvantage Chris - even the sighted were bumping into each other!

Utter madness having a -thon of any sort, let alone samba, with a blind person in the group.

Aljaz and Tash were just stunning. So good I played it again as we watch the recording after dinner.

I thought Chris did very well with his Paso and there were some interesting steps.

Pete's tango was just bad and largely due, I think, to the wrong music and his lack of application and belief.

Jojo redeemed himself this week with the choreography but Montel is not great I fear.

I enjoyed Sarah and Vito's rumba but it was definitely a technical feat and couldhave done with some sensuality and softness.

JB's Charleston was fun but not exceptional and I can't remember much of Jamie's dance so clearly not memorable.

When one of the celeb's who has gone through to next week says they don't understand why they are still in the competition "It's not down to my dance ability" it becomes crystal clear that it is more of a popularity contest than a dance one. It has been for years so that's nothing new.
I really feel for that person because they were clearly shocked to go through last week, and were utterly dumbstruck when it happened again. When everybody was applauding the person voted off this week, they were stood on the balcony looking close to tears.

The wrong couples were in the dance off so the wrong couple left.

One couple was obviously the worst. I don't understand why they are so popular and I'd never heard of the celebrity.

Tash and Aljash were just gorgeous, I loved Sarah and Vito's rumba, I thought it was soft but very difficult technically. I thought JB's Charleston was terrific. Surprised you weren't so keen, @Obelix-Vendée.

I wasn't not keen @Busy-Lizzie. It was fun but not exceptional and, at this stage, they need to be doing more.

I agree that the wrong 2 couples were in the dance off.

Tonight's show begins at 7.05pm, and the theme is "Musicals".
Could be some interesting musical interpretations again .
