These days I'm classed as neurodivergent, beats weird I think.
Gave up trying to socialise in my 20s, not helped by being almost deaf in one ear from childhood.
Lost myself in books, Radio 4 and work.

 

Our chip shop uses paper that looks and feels (and smells!) like newspaper, but without the printing. By the time you get home it's absorbed quite a lot of grease and moisture (steam). I would think wrapping in anything that isn't absorbent would be a recipe for greasy, soggy chips.

 

Weekly shop today starting with LIDL for wine and bargain Nz lamb legs. Fine, but they had "Christmas eggs" in the Xmas chocccies displays! Really?

 

I've not used a chip shop for a few years now as I found wherever you tried the chips were always a wet soggy mess, I dont think it has anything to do with the paper its because they cook them and then just keep them hot, at which point they go soggy.

I used to collect news papers with a few mates and take them to the local chip shop when I was about 10 yrs old, it was amazing thinking there was people digging out bundles of news papers from the old coal shed and tomorrow someone fish and chips would be wrapped in it, but we thought nothing of it.

A week has got 5 working days and a month has got 4 weeks. Why do all appointment's fall on one day?

 

My Dad was also deaf in one ear from birth @NigelJ, so I think his early life was very difficult. He still managed to be a very successful musician, and I think it was partly to stick two fingers up at his mum. I don't think she was very kind to him. Just my opinion of course, as he was from that generation that didn't discuss anything, and they still lived in the south of England after he moved up here, so we rarely had contact with his parents.
I think I'm quite like him in many ways - good and bad! Makes life quite challenging at time though, doesn't it.

With you on those soggy chips @pete. I think it's why I don't really like chips. Our chippies use cardboard trays and the plain paper that @JennyJB describes, and even when they've only been wrapped for a few minutes, I think that's the problem.

Alright who was the bright spark in marketing that decided it made sense to put Bisto Granules in a glass jar with a lid so that it looks like a jar of coffee.

I know what you mean about the jars too. Daft. I'm just glad I don't really use either of them!

 

We had a free Knorr stock cube come in the door one day - it was gold foil covered. I put it on one side and hubby came in and put it in his mouth thinking I'd left him a chocolate.

 

Those L'OR coffee jar lids are impossible to remove. I still have their previous screw top one to use.
