Good morning everyone, much quieter and calmer out there. I think we got away very lightly here. The leaves are still largely on the Bramley apple, so although there's some to clear up there will be more to come down.
I have been meaning to comment for a while, @Busy-Lizzie I note you often mention signing out for the day. I find I have to sign in and out almost every time I post. Maybe it's because I am using my mobile phone ?

The dogs have had their first 'proper' run for a few days. They are gently snoozing. It was still pretty windy up in the hills with a few patches of snow.
My new coat arrived, so it had its first outing. I am very happy with it.

I bought a chilli plant at Aldi a few months ago. We now have ripe chillies on the kitchen windowsill! Hoping to overwinter it.

Afternoon everyone. Wall-to-wall rain here today, so apart from a quick dash to the post office to send off our nearly-7-year-old grandson's birthday card, I've been doing jobs inside.

That jacket looks just the job for winter, @Penny_Forthem . Bit long for me though - I think I'd trip over it...

However, there are some advantages to needing to chop the bottom 6ins off all my trousers. I ordered a new pair of t0ugh work trousers from a Black Friday sale (half price, hooray!). They have lots of pockets, including one for a phone, but the tough stab-proof one in which I'd expect to put my secateurs is on the left thigh. Not helpful for a right handed gardener. But... I'll be cutting a lot of material off the length, so I'll use some to make a strong pocket on the right thigh, where I need it.

Good to read that your tap problem has been sorted @Goldenlily26. Now to trace the source of the damp eh?

I'm a little vertically challenged @Penny_Forthem but unlike @Liriodendron I would probably find that coat length fine. Its a very smart coat so which colour did you go for? I would go for the dark purple.

@Allotment Boy I never mention signing out. I think you must mean @Ladybird4!

I spent 3 hours in the garden today tidying up and cutting back. That should do until we get back in January. Off to France on Thursday. Will be spending Christmas with my daughter in France.

I've also been writing Christmas cards to friends and family in the UK. I want to get them posted before I go to France.

A friend came to dinner last night, she'd lost her electricity because of the gales.

I like the dark purple coat best too. Does it have the sort of zip that you can open from the bottom @Penny_Forthem?

I had a similar coat from Mountain Warehouse, lasted me for years, so you should get a lot of wear out of it. I think the longer length is great. I’m always disappointed that many waterproof coats for men seem to stop just below the waist. Do the manufacturers expect men to be tough and put up with the rain?!
I quite enjoy the last ‘dregs’ of cold tea or coffee! I do have to watch out in cafes that the staff don’t whisk away my cup before it’s completely empty! I’ve been known to finish the dregs from OH’s coffee as well, - he thinks I’m disgusting!
Dentist this morning, and very pleased that she has managed to repair a very heavily filled tooth. Hopefully that will last a few more years, and maybe see me out! Optician tomorrow, I feel as if I’m having an MOT and service! I’ll take the opportunity to look around some shops in town while I’m there, and maybe a stroll round the Christmas Market ( although I’ll probably go back again with OH in tow sometime - don’t want him to miss out!)
I never actually sign out, I just close the window. So I’m not sure if I still show as on line all the time, or not. Obviously I can only see that I’m on line, when I have the window open! At least it saves me having to remember my password.

Good morning everyone. I'll quickly qualify - if it is me rather than @Busy-Lizzie who you are referring to @Allotment Boy - when I write I'm signing out, it is just an expression that I use when I am closing the GC window prior to shutting down my laptop. Nothing more complicated than that.

I hope that all is fine with @Obelix-Vendée as I missed seeing her yesterday. I also hope @Badly_Maintained is fine too. Quiz night was fun but we were well beaten - who - apart from a specialist - can bring to mind the name of any one of the stars that make up Orion's belt? We did win the Beer Round though. As we left the clubhouse at about 22:30 boy did it rain on our journey home - it was monsooning down. It was so nice to get in. I have my annual telephone consultation this morning and it is usually just a formality. Not sure what the weather is inflicting so far today as its too dark to see but it was very wet when I brought in my milk.

                              Good morning everyone!!

Sunny, bright and still this morning. Now I wish I had done a load of washing during the night. Never mind. It isn't cold and I'm hoping the sun will warm up the lounge this afternoon. Gardening - well, weeding and tidying up on the cards today.

That coat is just lovely and functional too @Penny_Forthem but I have coats and jackets to go. I like the purple one too. Nice and colourful for winter. Wish I'd had a coat like that when I lived in London in the 70s. Would have been excellent for those mornings standing on the end of the platform in winter!! I had the smelly woolly embroidered skin coat that was all the rage then!!

                                Good morning all.

@Ladybird4, @Obelix-Vendée was on the Strictly Come Dancing thread last night.

My back is a bit achey after 3 hours of tidying up the garden yesterday. Must get my Christmas cards finished for family and friends in England. Off to France on Thursday.
