    @simone_in_wiltshire

When we first had our burglar alarm installed, many years ago, it worked on ultrasonics and infrared. I had to call the installers back the next day as I could hear the ultrasonics - which they said was impossible. :rolleyespink: They came in and made me do a 'walk test' where I had to walk down our corridor, with my back to them, whilst they turned it on and off and I was able to tell them which it was each time. They had to change the system to one that would not upset a dog's hearing! I don't know whether they actually changed it or readjusted it.

I also had problems with my battery operated watch. When I put it on the bedside table at night I could actually hear the second hand move.

My hearing gradually became nowhere near as sensitive over the next twenty years. I have had tinnitus all my life but that hasn't changed in intensity.

So your problem with your phone possibly affecting you could be physical in some way and not just psychological.

We have quite a few 'funny' stories about my ultra sensitive hearing.

@shiney I had similar when Gadget-OH asked for 5G three years ago. I got increasingly tinnitus while sleeping. One day OH slept on my side and after waking up, OH said, it’s weird, I have tinnitus in my ear.
The tinnitus went after we removed the new box and used the old one again.

I leave my phone downstairs in the kitchen at night. I still have a daylight simulation alarm clock from my work days. It's very rarely used now.

I've always found that if I'm getting up earlier than usual, and I set the alarm clock, I tend to wake up just before it anyway. Apparently that's quite a common thing.

I don't use an alarm clock now but when I did I always woke up before the alarm went off

                      Hi,

I bought an SOS phone through eBay costing an whole £11 then put £20 credit on it bringing tears to my pocket. My wife Bron said she wouldn't mind trying a mobile phone so a few years ago we visited the "3" store and got set up for about £60.

A short while ago Bron had to attend an important assessment regarding a knee replacement; worried about rush hour traffic we set of very early but I said lets take a mobile just in case; I couldn't find my mobile and it would have a dead battery anyway; Bron was locked out of her phone totally forgetting it needs using something like once every six months.

Mobile phones are handy for those who use one but we don't use ours; we have a landline to accept spam calls at dinner time; our surgery and hospitals have our landline number recorded so we don't need a mobile.

Storing lots of personal information on a mobile phone in my opinion is asking to end up bankrupt

I have a passionate dislike of any phone after being exposed to five landlines in my three offices at work; (in charge of three departments). A pager which I would have loved to introduce to a sledge hammer and at times whilst colleagues were off site I could have three pagers; when mobiles came in I was given a mobile about the size of an house brick; this thing never worked because of all the electric motor testing; I was glad to get rid of it; then came emails; I was a mobile office and hated it; I retired from active conflict at the age of 53 and have avoided phones as much as possible; I prefer emails; they can be read and replied to when I want.

One thing which really annoys me is when I'm having a discussion with someone and their mobile rings; it's life or death the way they must answer this electronic torture; as they answer their phone I disappear; I won't play second fiddle to their phone; if they want to be so rude then forget about me; I'll survive.

Sorry for the rant but 24 years of being controlled by phones is more than enough for me I detest phones.

I've since found my SOS mobile and charged it but what for?

                      Kind regards, Col.
