This recipe is more authentic as it has the white wine - Tartiflette recipe Hugely calorific so definitely a treat and utterly luscious. We loved this when skiing or after a day of winter gardening.

We don't do turkey or stuffing or bread pudding so the only advance cooking I do for Xmas day is to make sure I have a batch of little sticky toffee puddings ready to warm up and slather in toffee sauce.

Thanks, @Ladybird4 and @Obelix-Vendée! Both recipes look good, depending on what ingredients I have in the larder / fridge! I shall have to try them both. Might have to wait to try the one with the white wine, I’m still finishing the red wine I bought to cook some beef in. Always have leftover booze to finish when I cook with wine (sigh, such a hardship!)

@Ergates use some white wine to cook the tartiflette and drink the rest with the meal!

A very good - but wet- morning from here in the North West. Has anyone here started putting up Christmas dekkies yet. I do have to say that this is the first year I've felt like I can't be bothered. Maybe I've become a bah humbugger! :) Whatever you have planned for today, have a good one.

Might make a start by the end of the week. A lot of hassle but nice when it's done! Always glad to see the back of them too:gaah:

              Good morning all!!

The sun came out yesterday late morning and it was another beautiful day. I decided not to do any digging and weeding but cut back some Salvia and started on a tall Bay/Laurel Tree (edible one). May need some help lopping off the top - nice and even. Things are sprucing up in the garden. Hip still behaving but a bit of a sore back after pruning.

Tartiflette, raclette and fondu all make good insulation for snowbound residents!!

Have a pleasant day everyone and courage to those starting their working week.

                Morning all.

The sun is trying to break through here, but hopefully not enough to show that my windows need a clean!

@Ladybird4 - have a peep at my Grinch thread if you dare! Many people posting who don’t ’do’ C’mas or have gripes with the fuss and performance. My little potted tree is looking healthy and has grown since last year. It wil be come in and be decorated with some tiny lights.

                Have a lovely Monday all.

                  Morning all,

Well, I’ve made a start @Ladybird4 in as much as I’ve put the Advent candle wreath out on the coffee table and one on the kitchen table. That’s as far as I’ve got though.
I imagine @Ante1 might post a picture of his for us soon.

I do enjoy decorating for Christmas, but the trees won’t go up for another couple of weeks, possibly the weekend after next.

Off to coffee morning group shortly - it hardly seems a week since we went out for our Xmas lunch.

Snap @AuntyRach, I got a tiny tree last year and its looking good. One of my hesitations for putting up my bigger tree is the fact that this will be my first Christmas with Cricket and he is a tree climber extraordinaire. A disaster waiting to happen. I think I should do it just to get some hilarious pictures!

Good morning all. Lurker here but wanted to answer @Ladybird4 question re xmas decs going up. Nothing here gets put up until nearer then10th, which is daughter’s birthday. Even though she long since left home we still tend to use this date for the start of decorations. By Christmas Day, we’ve had enough of them.:rolleyespink: As @Bluejayway says, it’s always a hassle but afterwards, they do look nice. Happy decorating everyone.
Wonder if @Ante1 has started his Christmas Candles?

Ah yes - cats and trees! It’s not just the climbing but the fiddling and mischief with any decorations! Tinsel and little plastic bits are dangerous for pets. One of my cats tried eating some gift ribbon once, so that is now banned or hidden.

Good to see you @Songbird. @Ante1 sent a picture of his first Advent candle, lit, to our WhatsApp group yesterday.
@AuntyRach I have several electronic buildings/dioramas/scenes which make up my Christmas village and that could be carnage too.

I did not want to get up and take Bryn to his doggy daycare, but of course, I did! He will be very soggy when I pick him up.
I have the family's presents sorted, plus a small gift for hub. I just need something for his sister & hub, but as we won't be seeing them till February, I'll have to resort to Amazon or that ilk.
I have given up sending cards to my numerous cousins in Canada.

Afternoon all. It's getting dark here. Day was sunny but extremely windy. I can't remember when we had so many windy days in a row. My dear ladies, here is my Advent wreath with first candle lit, candle of hope and faith. There is few Christmas tradition which I particularly love, and advent wreath is one of them. I also have some festive bits and bobs around the house, and next weekend hope to hang all my outside lights. Do I need to say that I bought some more.
