Didn't mean to offend, @fairygirl . It was meant as a helpful bit of trivial information, not a negative criticism.

I think gravity has changed and made things heavier. I just had 20kg of bird seed delivered and needed to use a barrow instead of carrying it. Some female voice behind me seems to be saying it's called old age :hate-shocked:. Can't possibly be that! :nonofinger:

Signed! :) The two-party system isn't working and safe seats make voting pointless unless you support the status quo in your area.

            Thanks, @katecat58.

My moan - why is it normally you can eat your supper without decorating the front of your jumper, but when beetroot is on the menu, your skills desert you and you discover a rounded piece can fit in three bounces between your neck and waist? :noidea:

Is that an official petition, it looks like just a Liberal Democrats set up.

@pete, it is a Liberal Democrat petition. They have been campaigning for PR for years.

Yes I know they have always wanted PR, but I thought with the way the last election went they would prefer the old system, not really looked into it though.
They did fairly well in the last election.

@pete, there's recently been a vote in parliament which was in favour but unlikely to actually become law.
I think the Lib Dems probably think they would have done even better with PR.

They are not who I would vote for but a change of the system is required I believe in order to get a better representation of the population in government.

The ones we have now talk about having a clear majority but only via a system that it totally flawed, in my opinion.
Its all designed around a two party approach.

Kinda Catch-22. Whichever party gets in is happy with the system, so there is no incentive to make it more representative. Given the chance, those pesky voters can't be trusted not to rock the very comfy boat! ;)

The LibDems had a chance of sorts when they went into Government with the Conservatives. That worked well for them - not.
As for PR in general, I don't see it working. Tories are factionalised, just as the Labour party are. If a party can't even agree amongst themselves, what chance is there of a mishmash working?

When you look at the house of commons it is always a mish mash, you could still have the party with most votes forming a government it just that the representation would be more reflective of how the voting went.
Rather than coming second, third or fourth being wasted votes.

MPs of all parties are paid for by the public and, therefore, should work together, IMV. One lot trying to thwart another lot means nothing gets done and it is just a waste of time and money.

Listened to Keir earlier! So many words. Words, words, words. They all love talking. We don't need endless speeches followed by endless debates. We need good ideas put into practice efficiently.
