Up the road a tree fell down with ivy growing up it and one on the main road almost blocking all of the road, that has been removed.

It is snowing at the moment. Teensy flakes that are pretty much dropping straight down.

Those winds over there are something we rarely get. I hope everyone stays safe and I will be thinking of you.

After some more heavy rain late afternoon it has now stopped. The wind is also dropping and wasn't more than a stiff breeze really. We had the best of it here and tomorrow looks like it will be breezy and sunny.

        Take care everyone!

There have been strong winds here all day from Storm Darragh though very little rain other than a few brief showers. The winds are forecast to continue overnight.

                Sunrise 07:59
                Sunset 15:58
Here is something that shears me up.
We have now entered the stage when the sunset is only seconds from the turning point. Monday in 8 days will be the day when it goes up again and will be as late as today.
Solar noon will be on the 10th and 11th. The Altitude will be 15° from the 11th to the end of the year. On 1 January, the Altitude will be 16° again.

The wind seems slightly worse than yesterday, it's still battering everything.
Raining from time to time but not amounting to much.
Forecast seems to be that it's going to continue all day.
                  7c.

It has the opposite effect on me. I like the (erroneous) idea that the shortest day is just that...one day. A day to be got through and celebrated believing that it all gets better from the solstice. I don't think that I can spin out the relief until the end of December!

I'm surprised that we have already December and soon mid December. It feels like time is flying nowadays.
I'm excited because now happens the real change in the garden, What I will see in March/April appears now like Camassia and Daffodils. I also checked this week the stage of the Lilac flowers buds and the other leave buds from Deutzia and Acer.

I like to see the turning point and remind myself that winter has only just started.

When we start gaining 3 minutes a day spring is coming.

It's still very windy indeed, the sea looks like it's boiling. Hoping that by teatime today things will have eased considerably and it might be safe to go outside and feed the birds properly instead of chucking stuff in the general direction of the bird table:scratch:

                              I'm still here @Tidemark :blue thumb: I don't often post beyond about 9 am-ish.
It's a clear start here, with an o'night low of around 1 degree [3 just now at approx. 8.00am] and it's supposed to be a bright day with some sun, and ahigh of 6 degrees. Still windy, but no worse than on many days.
Temp has now dropped to 2 degrees with the light.

Yesterday was wet until about mid morning. It stayed dry in the afternoon, but with some strong winds. High of 6 degrees.

We often have worse weather at other times than those times with predicted warnings @Jiffy. It was far worse here with wind/rain a couple of weeks ago, but we had no warnings for that. Much higher rainfall and stronger winds. It never makes sense to me. As soon as wind is in the picture though, it also becomes much harder for any accuracy IMO. I think they often err on the cautious side with predicted storms, because of that Michael Fish scenario years back.

                              Hope everyone is ok though.

We are a chilly 8c here due to a gusty wind from the NNE, but the sun is up and we should go to 16/17c with a sunny with some cloud day. It appears we will have this cold spell at night most of the week.
