It's a calm clear morning, quite a contrast to yesterday

Blue sky today, colder and the wind still grabs the back door out of my hand when I open it.The bird feeding station is leaning towards the east, I think the wind has bent the pole as the very bottom section is still upright. However the very cheap Lidl arches I installed to grow my French beans are still in place - I did tie them to some canes for extra anchoring at the time, and with no growth on them they present very little surface area for the wind to exert pressure on.

The wind blew over the 2 communal benches overnight. One of them is heavy.
Sky dull and house lights on .
          Stay safe .

A clear morning but the wind continues, with some strong gusts. About 8pm this evening, the wind will significantly reduce from the 45-50 mph to about 20 then taper to 10 over the next day or two.

We still have a yellow weather warning. Dry and 45mph winds this morning then wet and "calmer" this afternoon. But it seems more "normal" at the moment.

Found that the gas and elec meter boxes had opened themselves. All that wind buffeting had made the latches drop down I presume.

Lots of hungry small birds on the feeders - must now go and top them up.

At least the few remaining leaves are neatly piled up.

Oh yes, just noticed there is not a leaf left on my trees. The hazels still had at least half theirs at the beginning of the week, and the snakebark maple had plenty on its lower branches. Neighbour's magnolia is stripped too. Think I'll take advantage of the dry once the wind has died down a bit and collect up some leaves and the inevitable Birch brash.

Our electricity went down at 6pm. We were very fortunate that we had an early dinner so had some warm food. We were also very lucky compared to so many others around the country as the power came back at 9.30pm. I had made sure that the laptop was fully charged and we were able to watch, in a candlelight room, some videos of our last fantastic trip to India. Great memories.
Today still very windy but with a blue sky at the moment so put some washing out.

Still quite windy but it's turned from westerly to more northerly.
It seemed like there was a lot of rain yesterday evening and overnight, and still raining now, but squinting at the gauge through the window it only looks like about 10mm since yesterday morning so it can't have been constantly heavy. It somehow seems more when it's being dashed against the windows.

I think it blows over the top of the rain gauge.
They are not designed to collect horizontal rain.

A bright but still very breezy 7 degrees, seems our only casualty is a couple of broken roof tiles on the gable end where the wind got under them, insurance company has it in hand.

In norwich, The wind changed direction yesterday night and has been far stronger plus we have had very heavy rain. It was pretty calm yesterday until 10pm but it hasn't relented much since then.
On the morning dog walk there was plenty of brash from the trees and the odd branch but nothing massive. I think most of the stuff that was going to fall has already done so in the previous storms. It wasn't too cold but that probably because it was hurling it down with rain.

The sparrows on the feeders don't seem particularly bothered by it all.

Had another tree come down, this time in the small wood where we walk the boys but it was in the night.

Gusty winds from the north with thick cloud. Temp 6c feels like 2c.

The small birds haven't returned to my feeders yet. I've seen a single blue tit all morning, and it took him a couple of attempts to land as they were swinging in the wind.
