One has to ask why they bother having (and presumably paying for) an ombudsman if the government are simply going to ignore the recommendations of the ombudsman? Seems a bit like the energy regulator that caps energy prices, only to raise the cap four times a year... or the water regulator that can't stop water companies from releasing sewage.. or the broadcast regulator that doesn't touch the likes of the BBC and simply let's them "apologise" after they've broadcast something to millions of households.

A quarter of a way through the 25th century, and women are still second class citizens IMO.
They claim letters were sent out informing us of the [ludicrous] rise in the age for pensions. Utter billhooks.

I find R. Mail far more reliable than any of those delivery companies too @hailbopp. I don't know whether this takeover will see anything significant, but all those people affected in that vile scandal need their compensation, and soon. The amount of dithering and deflection has been disgusting. Those in charge for that hideous episode should all be taken to court for theft/extortion. They knew what was happening and they lied, resulting in people killing themselves and getting criminal records or going bankrupt. I don't know how they can sleep at night.

I'm still waiting for the government to hit those with the broadest shoulders.

But I suppose that depends on your definition of broad shoulders.

Their definition appears to be the elderly, particularly women. :dunno:

Labour did support the Waspis at the previous election with Jeremy Corbyn at the helm and many of his MPs supported it, you've got to wonder why they are all keeping quiet now. I see Reeves has said "most women knew about pension changes" which is utter nonsense as the plans were quietly hidden for years, no letters were sent out, everyone I know never knew till it was too late. It's one thing to say we don't have the money to pay compensation, it's another to twist the truth. Thing is they saved a shed load of money by paying pensions later to women, where did all that money go? Wasted.

Did she really say that? My God :eeew: I should think the evidence given by the hundreds of thousands of women backing the campaign gives the lie to that! As for the money saved....where does most of it go? Given the regular disclosures of politicans' corruption, whether on a personal level or in the form of massive contracts and backhanders, I doubt it's that difficult to 'lose' a few million £££s. What a system....

They aren't going to - they are very clearly being vindictive, have decided that a) mostly it is older folks that voted for Brexit, so they want revenge, b) that landowners traditionally are of the 'hunting set' therefore Tories, so they want revenge and c) "Boomers" are all that is bad for being able to afford to buy their own homes and sorting their pensions out and they want revenge.... they also want to make sure the country is so badly screwed that no matter who gets in next, they won't be able to undo it.

Another WASPI here. Bet you my bottom dollar I never received any kind of correspondence regarding the delay in getting my pension. I missed out by 24 days as my birthday falls 24 days after April 5th, the cut off date. I had a small bet with my neighbour that we would get nothing despite the ombudsman’s ruling. I won the bet but the financial gain did not make up the shortfall. Won enough to buy a cup….no half a cup of coffee!

The concern is that by the next election the Labour party will have destroyed all business and industry in the country, along with freezing half the retired population to death.
It was interesting to see the clips of Starmer and Rayner decrying the Tories for not agreeing to compensate WASPI pensioners and stating they would pay if they were in Government. Not only are they reneging on that pledge (no surprise there), but are said to be the first Government to fail to act on the recommendation of an independent commission.

This Labour Government is proving itself to be in a class of its own when it comes to lying to get elected. At least with the Tories we've always known where their true allegiances laid. Labour claimed to be there for the 'man in the street'. That's clearly a lie, even more so for the 'woman in the street'.

The state pension has thwarted my pension plans from as far back as the early 80s, I don't find anything new in having lost money because of the state pension.
It never has been fair, what you pay in has no relationship to what you get out, I'm not really well up on what the WASPI thing is about, apart from not getting a letter, which seems to be the biggest problem.
I believe the I in WASPI stands for inequality, how retiring 5 years earlier than men, can be considered inequality when it is taken away seems strange to me and also, bringing the age up to the same as men is hardly treating women as second class citizens.

While I can see women may feel it's gone against them, but it was never right in the first place.

My retirement age was risen can I claim compensation.
