I sometimes save and reuse good quality wrapping paper and always save the ribbons and bows. Got quite a bagfull now. A couple of years ago I bought a pack of 40 white and silver gift tags, don't know what possessed me, they are going to last for years as we only give about a dozen presents. They also don't match the wrapping paper!

We don't reuse wrapping paper but there are several gift bags that have been doing the rounds in our family for years.

It’s started… the big C’mas food shop frenzy! The car parks, aisles and tills are bursting… as I looked on whilst opening my car boot to receive my ‘click n collect’ with no fuss and a happy staff member (presumably because he didn’t have festive tunes on his van).
I feel like a winner today, and no turkeys were harmed in the making of my (non) crimbo dinner.

I practically froze to death at our local organic farm shop the other day. They only open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays so closed for Xmas week and the actual "shop" is only small and chilly ( good for the veg tho ! ) It's on an Honesty Box basis so purchases have to be weighed on the scales, costs written in the book, added up and then rifling thru the cash box to pop your money in and sort out your change. 6 people ahead of me buying mounds of veg - must have huge families - but a kind person let me go in front of them with my meagre purchases of a few beetroots and a bunch of Celery.
            I'm thankful I don't "do" Christmas dinners.

Time of year for out of tune choirs, and worst of all school kids singing.

Anyone know why they are called "recorders", as far as I know they dont actually record anything, thank god.

Yay! You are doing well! I am wondering if my grinchometer is going to go up or down now the 'frenzied Friday ( or whatever it is called) is nearly over with. The street is less crowded; fewer cars parked...it is starting to feel alot.....quieter (until the pubs close for the night...) maybe it will be ok for me to shed some grinchiness...maybe :rolleyespink::biggrin:

Never really thought about it before but found this:

The musical instrument is attested by this name from early 15c., from record (v.) in the obsolete sense of "practice a tune." The name, and the thing, were rarely heard by mid-1800s, ousted by the flute, but enjoyed a revival after 1911 as an easy-to-play instrument for musical beginners.

@noisette47, those boys have such beautiful voices. I have a dvd of a concert they did shortly after the film’s success. Lovely! :blue thumb:
