@shiney Is it possible to have the photo competition winner on the main home/forum screen again like it used to be ? Seems more like a prize for winning and may encourage others to joining in , I were very pleased when I won it once see it on the main home screen . Thanks Perki

              Thanks Sheal, Happy New Year.
Rosie has a severe case of mange again and looks awful. I have tried several times, with no luck, to get some medicine into her. I believe that her den is infested, so keeping her mange free will be next to impossible. I will not give up yet, though.

...And a happy new year to you @hydrogardener. :)

Ahhh, that's not good news about Rosie and it's quite evident in the image you have taken. As you say, even if you could get the medicine into her the chances are her den is infested and there's nothing you can do about that. I understand your thinking, it's hard to give up on an animal and let them fade away in misery - I couldn't do it either. Rosie had cubs last year, do you know if they would be infected as well?

Mange is passed from one animal to the other through contact, so between the infestation of the den and them in close contact, it is almost sure the others will have it. They are very social animals. She was keeping company recently with a magnificent male, so she may have passed it on to the male also.
I have several images of foxes taken in really remote forested locations, and I do not recall a single instance of seeing mange. It is a nasty disease, and she would be very difficult to trap and get to a rehabber for proper treatment. I tried to trap her and got a skunk instead. Never again will I do that! There is a small chance she will survive, but a secondary infection may be the end of her, if she does not freeze first. She used to come at the same time each evening so getting medicine into her was not difficult. Now, I never know if, and when, she will show up.

I loved your photo @hydrogardener, the little bird is so cute and the photo quality is excellent.

                  Sad about poor Rosie.
