We have another weather warning for heavy rain.

It's currently 10c and is pleasantly "warm". Funny thing is it's going to drop to 1c by morning. That's a big drop - about 1c an hour overnight. Strange weather.

      Good morning all.
Wind speed has increased since yesterday evening. We also have a rain warning until 9 o'clock this morning, but we are not so much affected by that.
7°C currently and temperature will be dropping to 5 °C over the day. We can even expect sunshine?
Weather for the week will be cold but sunny with night frost with -3°C.
Temperature will turn to average weather from Sunday on which is for our region 7°C over the day and 1°C over night.

Yesterday turned out quite mild at 11C after the gentle rain cleared the small amount of snow. So last night we were going to our favourite Indian, 12 miles away, with friends but didn't make it. The main road was closed, after having driven over 11.5 miles :doh:so turned around to go through the villages (about an extra 5 miles) but only managed about 4 miles as the road was flooded as far as the eye could see in the headlights. Didn't get there.

Raining gently now and still 11C but 4C forecast for midday.

Strange weather few days. It’s like yesterday, with the heavy rain and milder air, didn’t get the memo and arrived on the wrong week. Colder today and dry for the majority of the week.

              Hi,

We had a ten hour break yesterday from snow when it turned to rain; it was still raining when we turned in for the night; this morning we got up to more snow and we still have a yellow weather warning for snow in place for today. It's going to be a sweltering 2C today and we've just enjoyed a brief power cut so I've had to reset the electric clocks. As soon as the power returned we got up in case it went off again.

The good news is we don't suffer flooding here on the valley side but given all the snow and rain I feel truly sorry for those poor souls living in high risk flood areas; they must now be in a state of panic.

More snow shoveling for me today; normally I do the shopping very early Monday morning but I'll do it tomorrow instead but spend time today clearing the car and driveway of snow. It's good fun and the exercise is beneficial. :yahoo:

              Kind regards, Col.

The wind is the biggest problem ATM, it's still 11c, but they never mentioned the gale we have had blowing all night.

Another frosty/icy start here, but the forecasts have everything in them, and the sky's a mix of clear and dark clouds, so will have to wait and see what happens. O'night low was minus 1 degree [same just now at approx. 8.25am] with a predicted high of about 2 degrees.

Yesterday it 'snowed' virtually all day, but it was that very fine, dry, light stuff so it never amounted to anything. Not the type of snow we usually get here. The high was 2 degrees, but it didn't feel cold as there was only light winds.

I agree with you @Retired - flooding is so much worse. There's been a lot of that in many areas, and it's miserable for people, especially when flood defences don't work, and they get little to no help from the authorities. I always thank my lucky stars that we're at a reasonable height here, and the houses are elevated, so any potential flooding of nearby water courses will never affect us. Glad you're both ok - and get shovelling! :blue thumb:

                                Hi,

                                I couldn't agree with you more @fairygirl Authrorities in the UK are now generally bad but our local authority must be lunatics;

                                upload_2025-1-6_9-5-30.png

Above is a picture of Mirfield West Yorkshire about five miles from us; the River Calder seen running across the middle of the picture bursts its banks most years; the buildings center are The Ship Inn which is forever being flood repaired; it should be demolished and rebuilt on piles.

The lunatic council have granted planning permission for a number of new houses to be built knowing of this notorious flooding area. How will the new homeowners obtain insurance?

Scotland is usually worse than Yorkshire which is bad when it comes to severe weather @fairygirl I hope you are keeping well and safe.

Time now for a bit of snow clearing exercise. BRRRRRR.

                                Kind regards, Col.
