      Sorry Shiney.
OTT is for Ottawa and MAU is for Mauritius
IND is for India, AUS for Australia ... I'm so used to shorten these names.

I really dislike TLA's (three letter acronyms) :heehee: and tend not to bother reading posts with them in :noidea:

I don't mind we'll know acronyms but I draw the line when people start making up their own.

It's minus 5 this morning and the sky is clear.
Just heard the forecast and apparently some places have 'frozen ' fog.
I wonder if that comes in one lump.

                Hi,

It's illegal to sneeze here in the uk. :heehee:

                upload_2025-1-10_7-35-38.png
I use a soft sweeping brush to clear snow from the car roof but I always try to do this whilst the snow remains soft. Yesterday I couldn't get into the car it being so frozen. A member kindly suggested adding a smear of Vaseline to the door seals which I did yesterday afternoon; previously I've used lithium grease and also tried WD40.

Freezing again all day today and with lots of snow and ice lingering. Every year the daffodils are covered with snow so yet more snow to look forward to.

                Kind regards, Col.

A sunny day ahead, top of 3c low of -1c. Yesterday's forecast was correct, we did have sun, so hope today is similar. Still snow and some ice on the ground, won't be venturing out!

For those on computers (I don't know about phones). if you hover over the member's location (if the have put it) you get a map and pictures.

Here it is lightly overcast with a breeze, 13c going to mid teens but I don;t think we will have much sun.

I know what you mean @Sheal, but the dangerous way some people leave their cars before driving is unbelievable - they don't seem to realise that snow on a roof slides off the windscreen as the car warms up. There was one I saw in the news earlier [Merseyside somewhere] who'd been stopped because he was driving by leaning out the window - the windscreen was covered in frozen snow. The ones who drive with the little porthole scraped are just as bad. Better to cover the car with something if you need to be out before it thaws - which can often take all day.

Another frozen/frosty start here though. O'night low of minus 7, which is what it is just now at approx. 8.45, with a predicted high of between minus 3 and zero, depending on which one of the ' Canadian Lori guessers' is closest ;)
Yesterday was clear and sunny for a good while, with a high of 2 degrees for a while before dropping back to zero by late afternoon again.

The forecast is -3c at 10am, so it's probably -4c now. I don't have an outdoor thermo. Crispy and white. Max today is 0c. So it's permafrost.

I have some small cacti in the GH. I think they need bringing in.

All the patio tubs are solid and I'm worried about spring scorch on my bottlebrush in a planter at the front in full sun.

Has anyone else tried the 'warm water in a plastic bag' trick for a windscreen/windows?
It does work quite well - just make sure the bag doesn't have any holes...:heehee:

You still need to make sure you can clear off any ice as it melts, and if the car isn't warm enough it'll refreeze, but it's pretty good, especially if you don't have, or don't want to use, the defrosting sprays.

Birdbaths are frozen but I can't see frost on any rooftops. It's cloudy bright.

@simone_in_wiltshire I'm very cautious about ice as well. I walk to work, and I used to really stress out this time of year about it.

Since Covid though we've all been equipped to work from home. Like other companies they are now trying to get us back in the office more, but any hint of ice and I'm firm about not going in. Especially now I'm getting towards retirement age, and the hospitals are so busy this time of year.
