Trump may be just saying the first thing that enters his head, but the danger is he gives voice to things that others then try to enact. He is seeking media attention, but putting the rhetoric out there enables others to agitate for action, either locally or more widely.

The media is to blame. If you give someone like Trump airtime, you are complicit in what happens because of this. If the journalists at the press conference had burst out laughing and shown him up for a bombastic fool, or pinned him down to specifics, his pronouncements would disintegrate like candy floss on contact with saliva.

Although available only as a gel it is used differently and I don't think vultures would hang around for you to spread it on them. :heehee:

Our red kite comes down when we whistle for him. He gets our scraps and bones. No need to bin them.

Our government did get really stupid and lower their military spending which will be reversed as soon as a different party gets voted in. And the same for the absolutely ridiculous levels of immigrants and "temporary" students allowed in. But I still don't trust Trump. I don't dislike him but he is all about real estate. And then there is all of our oil and other resources that he claims he doesn't need. Yeah right. Last time he was in office, he kept pushing at Greenland and we share a long water/land border with them. And Greenland has a very rich resources too. Lots of renewable energy metals. I do believe that being part of Nato will have it's benefits. It just makes my head spin with what this man is babbling about and how some of my countrymen, the stupid ones, run with it. I think we should ignore him and just get on with securing the border, perhaps with thousands of drones for surveillance and those backed up by patrols. And get on with building up our military. Particularly at the northern border.

In the meantime, with all of this hype, U.S. Americans will earn back their title of one of being bumptious and much hated people.

Red kites. I don't think we have any of those over here. Not that I've seen every bird we have.. We've got hawks hanging around the neighbourhood and even though they are magnificent, they do keep our little overwintering birds in hiding!

As you say @CanadianLori both Canada and Greenland are rich in minerals and coast lines for pillaging and trading so an obvious target for a bigger, bully country. Defence capabilities are essential for countries that have citizens, culture, resources to protect and it's well past time that all the NATO countries woke up and got on board.

I've seen some of the fires in Los Angeles on the news, and just off the top of my head I wonder what is happening.

Sure enough the fires rage through trees and undergrowth out on the hillsides, but when you look at the built up areas the vegetation is barely touched but the buildings are totally destroyed.
What are these houses built from?

Big grand houses gone and trees and shrubs just scorched.

The houses in America, are built with soft Pine, and have had paint applied for years, internal is Plaster board and Plastic for doors, If you see the pictures on the news the only part of the home that is left, is the brickwork chimney and chimney breast IMHO

They reported this morning that they think an arsonist was responsible for the Palisades fire. Not sure if they've actually arrested someone though. WTF is wrong with people- if that's true?

I can understand how angry you must be @CanadianLori . It's easy to dismiss what the orange man spouts, but who's to say he won't, literally, cross a line? His pal, the Muskrat was having a go at something Trudeau had said too. The pair of them are very dangerous IMHO, as well as being totally creepy.

I think the main fuel for the fires are the houses, the fire would go straight through vegetation, I've also heard mention of gas mains.
Just looks like it's always been bound to happen one day.
