It is 8f -12c and the sunrise is a beauty, dark pink but menacing. The guessers say that snow won't happen until later in the day and through the night but it will be a pitiful attempt at painting things white as they say the most we'll get is maybe 3 inches 10 centimeters. I'm glad I went out yesterday and secured all of the new cctv wires so they won't get caught in my snow shovel. :)

And I have a large pressure cooker chocker block with piping hot stew that I made before the high time of use electricity rates switched on at 7 this morning :dbgrtmb:

It went down to minus 4c overnight. Now it's +1c with weak sunshine. The snowman I made last weekend is just a cat sized lump now.

My colleagues in Ottawa just confirmed it’s -12c over there.

It’s cold here. It feels like -5c, but it might be 1c. It’s the wet cold which shows not only a change in weather but attacks really the bones. I will not leave house again today.

I have Yaktrax and swear by them, but only if there is an actual layer of ice/frozen snow on the ground. They need something to bite into. They are fantastic when the snow melts and then freezes overnight, and the ground becomes a skating rink.

Hellebores too! These all faceplanted after a frosty night.

It’s been a day of beautiful calm, clear, blue skies all day. If it were summer, I’d be in my bikini. As it is, it’s minus 3°C so the neighbours are spared a fright.

                Hi,

At 10:30 this morning the car was iced up again but this time the doors opened OK; when I apply anything to the door seals I remove it in springtime and give the car a birthday.

Having defrosted the car it was a nightmare getting Bron down to it but taking a lot of time we managed it. The car was displaying -5.5C.

Regarding those lunatics driving cars with windows obscured I deteat the lot of them. Riding home on my Norton 750cc bike in winter of 1970 a car hit me head on throwing me completely over the car to bounce from a garden wall into the gutter. A kind first aider checked me over stating nothing broken. The ambulance arrived and after x-rays I was immediately admitted as an emergency; shattered left knee cap and fractured right ankle; I thought it smarted a bit as I walked into the ambulance then into the hospital.

The lunatic driving the car had cleared a letterbox sized hole on the winscreen the rest covered with deep frost; he also had a young child with him in the car.

After the ooperation this lunatic had the sheer cheek to vist me in hospital wanting to claim a car on my insurance because he was having to go to work on a bus; the whole ward went quiet as I shouted at him; I'm sure some murders are truly justified. I now have scars and one knee cap. If you drive like this lunatic then you deserve your accident but don't involve others and don't blame the police if you get pulled over.

We're pleased to be safely back home but next week we have two more hospital appointments to look forward to.

                Kind regards, Col.

I've been using them for years - my problem is that the power cable tends to twist and kink and eventually get damaged, and you can't buy replacement controllers separately. So I keep having to buy a whole new blanket.

One of my cables actually went bang whilst I was watching TV. I thought it was a gunshot on the program though it didn't really fit in with the plot. Then I noticed the blanket had gone cold and there was a hole burnt right through the cable.

So every time you use it, make sure the cable is straightened out as much as possible.
