I now have some germination. Several Devil's Tongue and some Shineybrids

 

Talk about freebies. All those seedlings must have given you a giggle!

 

Not mine. As soon as they prove themselves/grow a bit of girth, the blocks go under grow lights and then when the roots reach the edges, I have all of the pots ready for them. I can raise and lower my grow lights to hang just above them.

When I emptied the pots last year, I cleaned them and refilled them right away so there are about 300 pots down in the cellar waiting for seedlings. This was my major investment last year. Coloured and sturdy 1020 and 1010 trays with domes to fit on each of them and matching square pots to go in them. These trays are super sturdy and will last until I'm dead.



All of the chillies will fit under the lights down in the cellar which also has heat mats but not all my flower seed sowings would have room. Those flower seedlings that I don't try to start until February and March, get placed on any surface I can find near windows.

Moruga is one that might not germinate. It has always been a challenge to coax into life.

 

I potted up 28 seedlings yesterday and will be replanting the soil blocks where seeds failed to terminate. The Moruga did not disappoint me because I already figured it would fail however I was a little stumped that the Ring of Fire only produced two seedlings. They usually have a high rate of germination.

I'm going to use up the last of my Moruga seeds. Either there will be something or nothing but best get them done with. And I'll start some more Ring.

The potted up seedlings are now down in the cellar about 3 inches below grow lights and in a comfy temperature

 

What temperatures do you use for growing once they have germinated @CanadianLori ? I was thinking of setting it at 15c minimum and letting the lights warm them up further when they are on

 

My hot peppers are receiving a pampering. The mat is set to 75f 20c because the grow lights don't throw out a lot of heat since they are LED's. They are also in a zipped up tent with fan driven exhaust and another fan circulating the air. You'd think I was growing weed in there!
