Just 1c at the moment, but it seems warmer. Deadly still and quiet.

Only going up to 3c and smooth grey sky. OK for shopping.

It was warmer yesterday and I cleaned out the bird table (it has a bird house on top). Then it had a coating of creosolve. Looks like new.

Cloudy but not wet, cold but not freezing, only a slight breeze. In other words, non-weather. Dull dull dull.

Its very gloomy and murky looking, the air quality seem pretty awful, it has a smell like sulphur when you first go out.

              Hi,

I've become a dispensing pharmacy on top of all the other daily chores like making meals etc.

Bron had her knee repacement carried out on Wednesday and back home late afternoon Thursday. Everyone involved at the hospital were absolutely brilliant; when I collected Bron I took along a big shopping bag full of boxes & tins of chocs; both reception areas were delighted as were the ward staff to receive them; I'm sure most of these people will be taken for granted but they are all dedicated and deserve to be appreciated.

17 tablets daily as normal now a lot more with a timetable for each couple of hours; between looking after the chores and tablet issue I'm trying to pick the Yale lock on our garage/workshop doors; I've lost my keys and think I've locked them inside; the spare key on view for many years has grown legs; which doesn't surprise me at all.

I've tried a number of times; 3 days with melting snow dripping on me from the decking above; blinded by sunlight and also with it being too dark. I don't want to call in a locksmith because I'm stubborn and am now treating lock picking as a project; I'm using the hair pin and paper clip methods.

To add to my happy life whilst visiting Bron at the hospital the tyre warning indicator lit up flashing at me in the car. The tyre kit is of course in the garage. Happy days because Bron and I are delighted to have Bron's knee sorted out at last; bring on all the silly problems you'll not get me down. :wallbanging::wallbanging::wallbanging:

5C but feeling much colder although the sun is now shining and it's a beautiful day.

              Kind regards, Col.

                  @Retired

Can you slide a piece of stiff plastic to push the snick back in? Or wire.

Using a plastic card to push the sneck back in works on old Yale locks without a deadlock - we used to do it all the time in our student accomodation. One guy lost his key and never bothered getting a replacement (they charged for those).

                            Hi,

Sorry to wander off topic but many thanks everyone for your friendly suggestions which are very much appreciated.

When I made and fitted the double side hung wooden garage doors I installed the Yale lock in such a way it makes it extremely difficult just to slide in a piece of plastic; I've tried cutting plastic bottles but they so far have only deformed; being a mechanical engineer I made the rebates with close tolerances so getting a piece of plastic in the joint is very tight indeed and the rebates are 18mm deep.

I've just spent half an hour in total frustration; as soon as I tried lock picking our neighbour friend and little girl walked on to say hello; breaking off to greet them I started to feel cold and by the time they departed my hands felt frozen; I'm not complaining because we have some wonderful neighbours. Tryng once again the street became alive with neighbours making noise as they departed or arrived; I was listening for the clicks as the pins were adjusted but in the end walked away having suffered enough. It's too easy to call in a locksmith so I need to go out about 3:00 am and use a torch but no doubt this too would fail. I'm now enjoying a hot mug of decaf black tea and biscuit whilst I start to thaw out.

I had even thought about cutting a tin up it being strong and very thin to slide down the joint taking extreme care not to end up in A&E because for well over a year we've had appointment after appointment with more yet to come starting next Monday.

Thanks also @AuntyRach Bron will; always come first whatever is thrown at me; she's so special I never tire of her company even in our 48 years of marriage.

It's a stunning day but cold; clear sky right across the valley.

                            Kind regards, Col.

It is warm 34f 1c and raining. The snow should be gone by the end of the day. The guessers tell us to enjoy the heat wave before it gets cold again tomorrow . :)

A rather cool and dull day in St Andrews, had lunch with our daughter and had to pick up a bargain in the whisky shop. Didn't fancy the T-bone steaks, so left the farm shop empty handed.
6 degrees and dry with a cool light breeze.
