I found a celandine seedling that colour a couple of years ago although up until then I only had green ones.
Not spotted it this year yet.

There's something wrong with me. Two plants that I can't abide are Erigeron and Valerian. It's lonely here in a minority of one

        Two!

It’s not that I can’t bear them, but I wouldn’t choose to grow either. My space is quite small, so I have to be selective. In an ideal world, I’d have enough room (and enough staff ) to indulge in anything and everything. Till then …

:snooze: <- That’s me, dreaming on!

I’ve been looking at a few plant sites (as you do on a cold, gloomy January Sunday) and am frustrated by the number of “out of stock” items. Am I just too early?

Probably, @ViewAhead  If I was a nurseryperson, I'd wait to see what survives the worst of the winter before committing myself. It must be a fine juggling act between getting catalogues ready and being able to supply. Chiltern Seeds used to get around it with last-minute addenda but that was in the old days of paper

I've discovered a large patch of Snowdrops in the garden that are just starting to bloom.

I think lots just set up the website and then just add, out of stock, when there aint none,;) instead of removing the listing, and then putting it back when there is.
Some seem to have stuff out of stock almost permanently, it just there because they did when the site was set up 10yrs ago.

I was wondering if that was the case for some of them, @pete. Just listing every plant known to horticulture regardless of actual availability.

Both varieties of garlic planted several weeks ago are up and growing well.

This Double Red Hibiscus only had one bloom last year. I hope this is not the only one this year ...

Araucaria bidwillii looking surprisingly good in sub tropical Queensland - sorry actually Carmarthenshire! Amazed it's done so well over a couple of years.

This rose is on its own roots and has completely ignored winter, staying fully leafy. Unfortunately last year it didn't flower much either...

Did you grow the Araucaria from seed @CarolineL .
                            That's quite impressive.

Oh no @pete ! My horticulturalist friend gave me it. It was being thrown out of one of the botanic gardens he'd worked at. It's settled in quite nicely in a sheltered spot near the stream.

It's always pleasing when the first flowers of the year start to push through. Today is a lovely sunny day which always makes you feel better.
