Today I will mostly be pruning roses, which I am looking forward to  It's a bit earlier than I am used to, but the David Austin website says "January or February" and I would rather do it sooner rather than later.

Not a lot going on here.
I checked for my snowdrops, not a sign yet. They are always a month behind everyone else's because they are in a cold, North facing corner under a maple.
Sowed the chilli seeds as they seem to need such a long germination time, usually around 6-8 weeks with me, sometimes longer. No heated propagator.
The mini cyclamen I potted on seem to be recovering from their move and are now coming into flower along the bathroom window sill.
My daughter helped me to lift my overfilled wheelbarrow up the steps ready for me to take down to the compost heap. (Mental note. Do not overfill barrow).
The wild birds are eating me out of house and home, the feeders need refilling every day.
Stood and watched a cloud of zzy things on my winter flowering honeysuckle which smells wonderful when the sun deigns to show its face.
I experimented with some very old, wrinkled, dry broad bean seeds I found in the bottom of my veg. seed box. No idea how old or which variety they are. I put them in a small container and covered them with water. A few days later and they look as if they are ready to shoot. I will try planting them outside"when" I have cleared a spot.
Discovered one of my obelisks has been blown over, top heavy with an evergreen clematis. Not sure yet how I am going to keep it vertical, the gales we are getting take some beating.

Maybe you could stake it with a metal fence post @Goldenlily26. I did that that for my metal rose arch to strengthen it.

Only 3C, grey, I don't feel like gardening.

I doubt there'll be much flower this year Robert as I've cut it right back to about a metre high. I'll just be happy with leaves and maybe the odd late flower

Dug up some lovely leeks and harvested some more kale. Also dug up a good size mooli to have at lunch today.

Sowed just a few pots of seeds - pelargoniums shadow mix x2 and a pot of begonia semperflorans. I'll get stuck in a bit more in February

Please don't tell me you're sowing seed @Perki ! I'm trying to stop my usual problem of growing too many too early

I've sown two 10x10 trays of soil blocks. One with delphinium and the other with Pyrethrum. The seeds are old. I found the unopened packages under a box so I figured if they're no good, I might as well find out early and before even thinking about where they'll look best. Oh, and last Tursday, a tray of weed seeds to make sure they are viable too.

I'm going to try very hard to stick to my calendar for the rest!

Hubby has been cutting the old hellebore leaves off and cutting off the old raspberry canes.

The rest of our ornamental grasses have now been cut back and some transplanted. A 6ft wide fuchsia dug out and dumped. I also carried on with lawn edging until my fingers got too cold.

Yes. I have been thinking of what I could use, I did put a couple of lengths of Dexion shelving bars through it. Remember Dexion shelving? All the rage at one time. I kept the metal bits from the far distance past, I was sure they would be useful for something, not keeping obelisks upright obviously. I must go and explore the builders yard, always interesting. There are so many things which could be repurposed if you think outside the box. Some very interesting shapes and materials.
I had reached the conclusion I was going to cut off the head of the clematis making the obelisk top heavy. It hasn't flowered for a couple of years so it might do it good. Or kill it!

Not what I am doing, but the squirrels are hard at work. Just watched one biting a lovely green leaf off my fatsia and then transporting it over to a nearby very bushy pine. Ah well, I can spare one leaf, I thought. Then, it came back for a second. Then, it came back for a 3rd. :nonofinger: Hmm, how many does it need to build a decent nest? I may end up with a defoliated fatsia. :hate-shocked:

I think he's building up a food store @ViewAhead. If you've got deer or rabbits nearby, they eat fatsia leaves too :thud:!
