The problem there is the cost - or the cost they way they do it. I totally understand that they cannot have "Bob" just appear with his step ladder and bucket of cement in a working hospital, but the procurement of goods and services is generally appalling. The companies that are willing to put up with the hassle of working with them and jump through the regulatory hoops, charge handsomely for the pleasure.. and they know they will get away with it too.

 

Thought I would round off the leaky cistern saga...

Can't remember if posted it before, but I replaced the entire inlet valve on the cistern so it has been nice and dry since Tuesday; yesterday was a case of letting the dehumidifier do it's thing and dry the room out as much as I can.

My day today started roughly here, hauling the old boarding up as it was knackered



Then on to replacing the boarding, and doing a better job than the last guy around the radiator pipes...



Of course, I had supervision

However, after all that, I have a functional, dry, non-bouncy bathroom floor.



Hell of a lot of cleaning up to do tomorrow, but for now I've managed to get a shower and am in need of food - and bed.

 

New procurement regs come out on 24th Feb. It's supposed to make certain things simpler...
The requirement in public sector to go for the cheapest option also gone

 

Ah, so things such as quality, speed of delivery, standing ability etc are all back on the table?

 

Let's not get ahead of ourselves
I've asked our procurement leads for some briefing notes on the changes and how processes etc are impacted. They said they're still seeing what the new legislation is (they only had around 2 years notice afterall)
