Hello all! I wish we could get in the garden to do something @Busy-Lizzie! It is tipping it down here and the garden is becoming more waterlogged. I've managed to refill the bird feeders, still rather light headed but improving.
Good to see you @Liriodendron, it's certainly not good having power cuts especially with the freezers.
@Ante1 would you mind pushing some of your 21c our way please? OH is moaning that he's got to go out in the rain to fetch wood for the log burner!

The Chinese was very good last night. They provided chopsticks, as well as cutlery, but, even though I've been 'taught' to use them, my arthriticky hands made it impossible!
We are grounded this morning, as we have the boiler being serviced. Don't mind, because it's cold and wet.
I have bought myself a new activity tracker, as the old one bit the dust some months ago. I hope it isn't too bossy!
        Engineer is on his way...

Glad you are starting to feel better, @floralies.
Glorious sunshine here, so we have gone out to our favourite place for breakfast. Popped into their gift shop for a jar of marmalade and seem to have bought a peace lily while I was there! Still, it’s all going to a good cause. I was pleased to see that the aloe Vera I donated is up for sale.
The sun is streaming through the floor to ceiling window by our table, and I’m nearly wishing I hadn’t put a vest on this morning. Getting real quite hot here! I shall need it when we head out for our walk though, it can’t be more than 4C outside. Pleased to find a big warm scarf in the car. Forgotten I had it, it was tucked under the pile of coats of various weights, and waterproofs that all live on the back seat, just in case.
I’m hoping to get out in the garden later. Plenty of new debris to pick up, and maybe tackle one of the plant removal jobs. Have to keep reminding myself that every little helps, it’s very easy to look at the overall job and decide it’s too overwhelming, and promptly give up. I have a continuing battle with the gaultheria shallon that previous owners have used as ground cover on the sloping banks. The stuff is evil! Very happy to extend its boundaries via pink underground shoots which have been creeping under the paths. And of course, the birds love the berries, so have been obligingly spreading the seeds round the garden. It feels like a full time job just getting rid of any new colonies of it, let alone tackling the boundaries of the main areas. Oh well, at least it keeps the wildlife happy.
Hope everyone finally gets their power restored soon. And that we have no new storms lurking on the horizon.

Hi everyone, I hope you are all warm safe and have your loins girded for the forecast big freeze on the way!
And so it goes on, my sister and I have spoken to each other every morning for the last 10 years or so at my instigation. I made a joke of it saying we would check each other out each day, in case one of us fell off our perch during the night!
Sadly, that is what has happened. I couldn't get hold of her on Tues. or again Wed. so contacted her daughter who went round to her house where she found her mother had passed away. Although it was half expected it is always a shock when it happens, especially with me losing Robbie so recently.
One consolation is my sister died the way she wanted, in her own home, no fuss, no drama, no flashing blue lights and resuscitation, just quietly slip away, doing it her way.
I am back to square one, feeling drained and exhausted and strangely, lonely, despite having my own family around me for support. I am trying to keep busy so no excuse for not getting jobs done.

                  Good morning,

Bright, sunny and cold here today.
Did my Pilates class earlier, just had a coffee so need to stir myself to do the ironing once I’ve moved myself off here.

So sorry to hear about your sister @Goldenlily26. Yes, it will be some consolation for you that she went the way she had hoped, but still a shock for you so no wonder you feel drained and tired. Take care of yourself, and do things only as and when you feel you can. Sending my condolences to you.

Keep warm everyone going out and about.

Good afternoon everyone. We finally have some sunshine this pm but it won't last. Rain tomorrow and a freeze on Saturday night then cloudy again with wet bits.

Yesterday's tango demo went well but I'd forgotten how nervous we get beforehand as we haven't done one since leaving Belgium. We left early as the weather turned atrocious and we wanted to get home and get the chooks locked up for the night while there was still some light. We drove home along the coast road for a while and have never seen the Atlantic so excited and lively.

Weekly shop this morning and GC raid this pm before the rain comes back this evening. No gardening as the ground is sodden. Lots of flooding around locally and exacerbated by spring tides and storms holding back stream and river waters so not draining the land.

I'm so sorry @Goldenlily26 but what a lovely way to go. I hope that will comfort you along with many happy memories.

Best wishes to all, especially those suffering storm damage of any kind, poor health or loss.

I was deeply saddened to read your post @Goldenlily26. It will have been a huge shock for you and for her family. As you say, she went as she would have liked. May all your happy memories of the daily phone calls and your early life together be of some comfort to you at this difficult time.

So very sorry to hear your sad news, @Goldenlily26. What a horrid time you have been having. As others have said, do take good care of yourself.
